I bought a new trackball replacement for my Centipede upright from Bob. When I installed it, the left and right axis are reversed. I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. North and south are fine.

Prolly just have to switch the wires around. On each 4 pin connector, there is a red/black - those are your power wires. Leave those alone. Then you should have a blue/purple and a yellow/green. Now heres where I forget what you need to do exactly, but you can experiment. Try swapping the plugs. Meaning put the entire 4 pin Red/black/yellow /green where the other one is and the red/black/purple/blue where the other was previously. If that does not work, put them back where theywere initially and just swap the yellow/green pins within the plug and do the same for the blue/purple. You'll have to use a thin tip screwdriver to stick in the slot to release the pin from the housing.

Are they red optical boards or green ones (my guess is red). As mentioned above, the wires probably just need to be reversed. Instead of using a screwdriver to remove them (which does work ok), I would just go to radio shack and buy a molex pin removal.

Oh and make sure that any time you work with the wires on the trackball turn the game off first. Any slight surge can fry the optic board.

Thanks guys. That's kinda where I thought I was going to have to go with it. This is my first real repair, so I'm a little hesitant. I'll give it a shot when I get home. And yes, it's the red boards.
