I've got an issue with a Centipede board I have. It randomly beeps when in game play (the same beeps you hear when in test mode). There is no rhyme or reason to when they happen and occasionally the board will reset.

I've swapped a working board into the cabinet and the problem is gone. I've also swapped in another good ARII power supply with the faulty board and the problems are still there.

So, I've narrowed down the problem to something on the board. I've swapped the following chips: 6502 (C2), 2P, 8126 (4D) and the problem doesn't change. I've also double checked voltages and cleaned & checked the connectors/edge connectors.

Is there any advice or pointers that could help me from this point?

Thanks!

my guess would be transient memory issues.

Transient issues are often difficult to find, and if its a memory issue you'd need a fluke to diagnose it, even then transient issues are hard.d

You already did the logical steps, check the power supply, replace cpu.

The easy things I can suggest are
1) check the edge connector, clean it off well
2) any socketed chips, reseat, ensure legs are clean and sockets are not damaged
3) ensure all the dip switches are good and not 1/2 way switched or broken
4) disable the watchdog circuit and see what happens

if you are just looking for spare centipede boards un case your breaks. I repair them and have a bunch laying around I would be glad to sell you one.

Thanks! I'll keep digging into it. PM me the info on the boards you've got w/details please...
