Centipede Restoration (and the death of another Arkanoid)

Picked up a Centipede cab that had been converted to Arkanoid

Wireing has been really hacked up for the Arkanoid board

and the control panel is a mess

It was not easy to find an original bezel and marquee (actually, the problem was finding someone willing to ship the glass pieces)

Control panel was stripped down to the bare metal

and painted with Rustoleum satin black paint

New overlay was installed

and populated with the controls, including a rebuilt trackball

Paint was removed from the sides and sanded smooth (there was no original art left to save)

Didn't come with a back door, so I had to make one

And then sprayed a few coats of primer

Next, the white was masked off on the sides and black was sprayed on the remaing parts

Thanks for the pics, looks great. Really makes us all want to do that to our games.

How long did it take in man hours?

Nice work on both of those Spy. I feel like a hack in comparison. Time to step aside and let the real master work.

I only turn out 1 or 2 of these a year, but they do turn out nice. Now as far as being a master compared to your work...hardly. You've got some of the best restores out here (even with your t-molding color issues :))

Very nice Spy. Simply amazing to look at those two machines now compared to before. Well done.
