ok its time to get my Centipede working. The story behind it goes like this: I went to buy a pacman i found on CL and when i got there sitting next to it in the guys garage wa a centipede in really nice shape. I didnt even get a chance to ask the guy about it before he offered it to me for $50.00 and said it didnt work. Of course i took it. Now its time to figure out why? im new to all this so hopefully some of you guys can walk me through it. When plugged in the red lights on the control panel come on as does the lights for the Marquee and in the back the red light on the board comes on too but thats it. So what should i check first and then what? Thanks to all who chime in!

Try to coin it up and hit start. Does it play blind start there. If it has game play sounds it time to fix the monitor. If there is nothing start with the ar2 board which is the skinny long board. Good luck

I tried to coin it up and push player 1 and nothing happened. What should i do to the "ar2" board?

Typically the power and ground are at one end of the edge connector. On your board you can look for a red LED when you turn the game on. Just beside it there is a small loop of metal with 5v written on the bd. Above the LED there is a small metal loop with GND on the board. When you check a power supply voltage at the supply it might 5v. When you check the 5 volt line on the board you will notice that it is less. So make the adjustment to your supply while you are looking at the reading of voltage at the board because that is the most important place.

If you don't see the red LED come on when you power the game then you have a power supply/ connector/ wiring problem.

In my opinion, the first thing you need to do is get the monitor working. The board may be working but the speakers unplugged or something. You'll never know if you're staring at a blank screen. If you're getting the led on the pcb lit up your power supply is probably at least partially working.

Once you get an image on the monitor, you can go from there if the board needs repair.

Ok not to sound dumb but whats ARII? also while im at it what does OP mean? im a newbie and im starving for knowledge...thanks
ARII = Audio/Regulator II
Atari used the same board for the voltage regulation and sound amplification.

OP = Original Poster or Operator (by context)
Could refer to the first person that posts in a forum thread, or could refer to and amusement operator, who has a giant warehouse full of gold.
