This is only the second arcade cabinet I've really done any restoration work on, and the first one where I tried to take pics of everything I did.

The before and after pics are below. For more pics and detailed explanations, please check out the blog posts I've made:

  1. Part 1 - Starting Point
  2. Part 2 - Electrical Troubleshooting
  3. Part 3 - Control Panel Cleanup
  4. Part 4 - Cabinet Cleanup
  5. Part 5 - Side Art
  6. Part 6 - Finishing Touches

Thanks to all the KLOV members who helped me along the way, especially aesop and rzgrip!

Looks great! Nice job! I've got a 'Pede that is in pretty rough shape cosmetically and hopefully someday I get to it.

Nice job on that one. One trick when putting down large sideart, etc. Is to spray the cabinet or back of decal down with soapy water or glass cleaner (my choice). It gives you a lot of work time to push out bubbles, and align the art. When you do this for large art put the cabinet on its side. A rubber roller, or sponge is your friend here. Never try to apply a large decal like that dry. You have about a 50-60% chance of screwing it up and you will have air bubbles to deal with. Priming/painting before applying is also a very good idea as you want something smooth for the decals to stick to.

Such a shame you destroyed such a beautiful Arkanoid...
Joking of course :001_stongue:
Congrats on completing the restoration. Can't wait to add a centipede to my collection.

Thanks for all the feedback! I had considered doing a wet application of the side art, but was concerned about it affecting the stickiness.

I was thinking I'd sell all the Tournament Arkanoid stuff (PCB, marquee, controls, wires) as a kit, but might consider parting things out. The spinner worked decently as I recall, but probably needs some lube.

Looks fantastic!! I am in the process of fixing up my own Centipede Cabaret, that was converted to a guess what! "Arkanoid" LOL Why is it seem like all the Centipede Games have been converted to Arkanoid?
I really should document more of what i am doing to share. I enjoyed looking at how your game progressed.
Thanks for sharing.
