New vid owner. Just picked up a really nice all original Centipede. I want to add multi trackball capabilities, but not do any permanent mods. What are my options, if any?

Thanks,

Brian

1. Get a (working) Millipede board.

2. Order the Multipede kit and adapter from arcadeshop:

5. Watch as friends and family bow down to the awesomeness of what you have just done.

One of the greatest and simplest multi kits out there. Best thing I ever did to my Millipede.

I too have a Centipede but want a multi kit with more than two games. Does anyone make an xx in 1 kit that has nothing but multiple trackball games on it?

You could throw MAME in there and have a ton of trackball only games

Or hack the harness to play JAMMA and install a 60-in-1 or something. But the OP said 'no hacks' which is why I suggested the Multipede kit.

Iv'e been on the fence about doing this - kick a llittle life back into my centipede.
The extra $100+/- for the millipede pcb has held me back so far.

Maybe put the arcadeshop stuff on xmas list.

Anyone sell multipede marquee's? Thought I had seen some examples before.

I saw that arcadeshop had a centipede Jamma adapter. I suppose I then could add a 60-1 and just enable trackball games. Not much more $$ than buying the Millipede pcb, no? Yeah, I know a waste not to make use of all the other games, but I'll work on getting another cab for those, and as I said - really want to keep the Centipede looking stock.

Doesn't seem worth the effort to add the adapter and 60-1 when you will only get 4 games on the 60-1 (and really Arkanoid and Super Breakout really should use a spinner).

I still thinking throwing a cheap PC and mame in there will give you the most options. From the outside it will look 100% original and you won't have to hack it up. Besides, the Irritating Maze is too fun a game not to be able to play it!

I think what you're looking at is a Centipede-to-JAMMA adapter which would allow you to run a Centipede board in a JAMMA cabinet. I don't know of any products that would let you go the other way.

Got it, thanks for clearing up my newbie-ness.

I think I've got my options straight. Last question, the monitor in a Centipede only does 16 colors, right (recall seeing this in the Millipede tech note on Arcadeshop. So whatever multi option I want to choose do I need to swap monitors?

It is the Centipede board that only does 16 colors.

There is no need to swap monitors.

Seconded, Centipede has gotten more high score competition amongst friends of mine on it but they're both great games and it's really nice to have them in the same cabinet given my small ass apartment. It really is dirt simple to do, too. I think it took me all of 6 minutes including opening the bag with the replacement chips in it and quadruple checking everything.
