Anyone in Connecticut have a 19" monitor for a centipede for sale? If not CT I'd consider buying from someone out of state depending on the cost of shipping. Trying to fix up a friend's machine that crapped out.

Also, what's the going rate for a new or used monitor that'll work in this machine?

(In the interest of disclosure, I'm still goofing around with the old one to see if I can get a sign of life, but I'm not hopeful so trying to get leads on a replacement now...)

Thanks in advance!

Might find out what kind of monitor you have and if you're not feeling adventurous about repairing the board yourself a chassis swap is pretty simple and the chassis are much more readily available (and easier to ship) than a whole monitor.

WRT going rate I was quoted $50 for used working 19" monitors. AFAIK that's a bit on the low side, and I am also in the PNW which may affect price.

Thanks for the input... I'm going to fart around with the monitor this weekend. I'm sure the tube itself is fine, in fact, the issue seems to be intermittent. He'd turn the game on and maybe one out of ten times it would fire up fine. But I wasn't sure if the availability/price of repair versus replacement would make it more logical to just get a new (used) one. I'm not sure what brand it is off the top of my head, but it's original, so whatever came in the centipedes I'm sure this is it...

centipede came with many different monitors snap a picture of the chassis and post it here. Im sure someone will identify it and give you some advice

if you can get a used working monitor for $50 grab it. Its going to cost you more than that to fix it and centipede usually has bad screen burn.

I though centipede usually has a g07 in it?

Most pede's came with go7s and 4600s.. Not much of a fan of either, and most defiantly not a fan of 4600s..

I'm in western Ma, live one street away from CT (enfield). I've got half a dozen or more 19" monitors that are rebuilt and some have new burn free donor tv tubes.. Prices range from $125-185. Have one or two almost new vision pros, but those aren't cheap. Also have rebuilt k7000, 4900, and maybe a go7 chassis available.. $100-125

Going on vacation and will be gone for a week from tomorrow.

Okay, what is WRT? $50 for a working monitor, how bad is the burn or the colors? Can't be that great of a monitor. Also, what is PNW and what does it have to do with price?

Sorry, I missed following up on this post!

@Local: I'll PM you if I can't figure out anything obvious with the current monitor... I haven't had much time to look in to it yet. However, the owner doesn't seem interested in wasting too much time/money fooling around with it. If I can score something decent and stable for a reasonable price (even with a little screen burn) then I'm sure he'd go for it while saving me the hassle of trying to diagnose and repair. ;-) its a plus that you're reasonably close by as well.

With Regards To. It turned out to be a working G07 and included two other "working" monitors at that price (a Kortek that was really nice for about five minutes before some caps gave up the ghost, and a WG 4600 that has a problem I've yet to diagnose). The G07 had some burn but the colors are nice and bright so I have no complaints :D PNW = Pacific Northwest, I know there are regional variations in prices for various things and particular stuff that is a pain in the dick to ship.

I'm going to grab some more "working" units from the guy and get my cap kit on soon :p

What's the story on 4600s? Are they just a pain to work on or is there more to it? I already have a little hate for them based on interface board BS but other than that they don't seem too bad.
