I recently purchased a Centipede cocktail cabinet from local CL for $75. Cabinet is in pretty good shape, glass is alright, definitely a good deal. Only thing it needed was $4 in fuses to get the game up and running, which is a cool plus!
Control panels and overlays need replaced and the glass underlay needs replaced, but other than that it's in great working shape.
However, the monitor has some funky issues going on, and I'm not completely sure if it's even worth my time to try to repair it. It needs a cap kit anyway, so I'd plan on doing that, but given the problems I wouldn't even think it's worth it.
As evidenced in the pictures, the monitor has a rather large unsightly dead spot in it. It's not horrible but definitely larger than most. I'm thinking it's a tube issue -- can anyone confirm?
If it is a tube issue, a cap kit won't really resolve anything anyway. It's a 13" original G07 monitor. Where could I find a replacement? I've scoured a few places online but couldn't really find any available at the moment. They seem pretty tough to source!
Provided that issue isn't warranting a complete dead monitor replacement, the screen also has a slight 'wave' and bend to it. I have adjusted some pots and need to look at them for solder points, but am not really sure what diagnosis it could be for that.
The monitor needs a cap kit anyway since it's a little faded, and I plan on doing that provided I can resolve everything else to that point.
So: A. Is this monitor completely bonked out and time to replace due to the dead spot?
B. If it isn't, what would fix said dead spot?
C. Provided I get to that point, what would fix the wave and bend in screen?
Thanks for the help! I can't wait to completely restore this thing, it will be my first 'full' restoration that I get my hands on. I've restored an SI cab but it wasn't as in-depth with monitor issues as this one is.
