Hi -

As others on this site have had - I've got the sagging image issue with my Centipede monitor (see attached). WHen I turn the machine on, there is a slight sag to the right and the display is low. Over the next 30 min, it gets worse and the screen continues to creep down. The colors are still vibrant. Is this a cap replacement issue?

Had anyone else successfully and easily fixed this problem?

Thanks!

Knowing the make and model of the monitor is a must for this problem.

If it is an Electrohome G07-CBO, you should adjust your H. Freq to clear up the problem.

Is that Centipede in French ?

I know it's just a dipswitch setting, just struck me funny to actually see it, dunno why.

Thanks Dokert - finally got around to taking a closer look.

It is an Electrohome G07-CBO (CRT TYpe 19VJTP22/19VMAP22).

Looks like there are several adjustment screws. I accidentally moved one of the white adjusters (labeled A/B in the first attached chassis photo) and it wreaked havoc with the color on the screen. Still haven't gotten it back to original.

Is there a set procedure or test patterns to use when adjusting the settings on these?

Any idea where the H.Freq adjuster is? Or what 1-4 and a/b control? There also seem to be a set of 3 adjusters facing down towards the rear of the gun (in the second photo under the cardboard at the right).

Also, I know it can be dangerous to be messing around with monitors - can I make adjustments to these with the power on?

Kevin - yea, its in French, was testing out the dip switches way back when and thought it was funny too - never changed it back.

Thanks!

Those two A/B knobs are for Focus and Screen (brightness) controls. If your brightness is too high, the colors will look washed out. Too low and the colors will look to dark. Also, there are knobs on the neckboard for adjusting each color level.

As for all the other controls:

Adjust #4 in your pic or the one on the right in the pic Mod provided. Yes, you will need power ON to make this adjustment.

Guys - Thanks so much !! This info was so helpful and totally worked! I guess I can hold off on replacing the caps for a bit longer..

When I first adjusted the h.freq, I heard a high pitched squealing and the monitor went to all lines, after turning it pretty far right, it looks perfect with no sagging (except that the entire display still seems off center to the left. I tried moving the v.centerering jumper, but it didn't seem to do anything - any suggestions?st

1) replace the caps

2) learn how to measure and adjust your B+

3) Check the picture above for where the vertical shift jumper is, and try moving it...

Plan on doing a deluxe cap kit with flyback replacement fairly soon. The squealing that you heard indicates that your fly is weak, and could be close to failing.

Thanks for all the advice.

Took me a bit to figure out that the controls are reversed since the monitor is oriented vertically (sideways) in Centipede.

I've got everything centered now, but there is too much space on the top and bottom of the screen. Since the screen is oriented vertically, I believe a width adjustment is needed to fill the top and bottom. I think this is done with the hex width adjustment at width coil L503 (at hte top right in modessitt's attached diagram above). I know theres a risk of shock making adjustments in this area - can I perform this adjustment with a metal hex key and does the power need to be on?

You will need a PLASTIC 1/8" allen wrench to adjust the width coil, and for best results the monitor should be powered up. Bob Roberts sells the tools for adjusting width coils.
