Hello, I have a Centipede I am having some difficulties with. I have 2 PCB's and 2 different problems.

PCB 1 Screen is blue and you see the out line of some mushrooms and the centipede, no sound and colors are wrong

PCB 2 played fine, then went to having a white screen and playing blind, I was wondering if anyone has any idea what may cause this.

PEACE

Centipede PCB's need help

Hey just was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. I would really like to get this going so I can play it. I had everything working great then it just quit. So please give me some idea of what I can do to fix it.

PCB 1 problem sounds like it's possibly the edge connector on the PCB. Did you try cleaning it? Try using an eraser. I had a similar problem with mine and that's what it was.

Might also be the problem with PCB 2.

It could also be the connector on the wiring side but I'd try the above first.

PCB 1 went into test mode and say 4 ff and 5 for errors, but there is no sound so I can't hear the beeps.

PCB 2 plays blind with a bright white screen, and no beeps when switching to test mode. Is there a chip or chips that would stop video completely? if so where should I start looking? The part that sucks is this game was playing fine earlier today.

PCB 1 - Error 4ff is the earom and you don't need it for the game to run. Error 5 is the pokey.

PCB 2 - Could be the color ram. It maybe socketed if someone had already changed it at one time. It is at location C8. Also, try re-seating the roms and sync prom.

PCB 1 Replaced pokey no change - could it be the socket then?

PCB 2 what would be the RAM chip I would get to replace the one at C8? Is there a way to test the RAM chip at C8?

On the first pcb, it could be the socket, however I'm pretty sure the game will run with no pokey. It just won't have sound and the mushrooms will be off to one side, so I don't think it will help the main issue. As for pcb 2, the ram is a 82S25.

Replaced 82S25 and screen came back to life. Now I can not move up or down just left and right. What causes that? all the wires are fine the board with the bad pokey moves up and down. Please let me know.

Try unplugging the trackball harness up by the optics boards. The connectors may have become a bit corroded and just need few plug/unplugs to swipe them clean again.
