I have rebuilt a Centipede upright cabinet. It is working well except the it forgets the high scores, it should be remembering the top three scores.

There is another weird issue, durning attract mode when a certain screen shows up there is a loud hum. I believe it is the same colour of mushrooms each time it happens.

Any help is appreciated.

Check the voltage of the EAROM, ER-2055, on the CPU board at E5 that stores the scores but needs a high voltage to write. Pin 14 should be right around 30v.. from memory it's often nearer 28v.

The EAROMs also do just go bad, so might need to be replaced.

The ER-2055's are hardy little bastards. you can plug those things into the board backwards and it won't kill 'em! More often it's the -30V that's bad, or too low (or too high depending on your paradigm :)), or an adjacent buffer or something related. If you try a new ER-2055 and it still doesn't work, then it's probably not the ER-2055 and your original ER-2055 is fine.

Jrok, do you still have the earom replacements. The voltage is definately the problem and that seems like the easiest fix.

Thanks for the responses.
