I've got a Centipede cocktail table I recently got from a guy and i'm in the process of trying to restore it. However i'm not having much luck troubleshooting this particular issue. The game uses a 13" G07 monitor and basically makes just a bunch of scribbly lines all over the screen when you turn it on. I've already installed a basic G07 cap kit which I got from twistedquater.com and have also cleaned and reseated all the chips on the game PCB board. I also found a guy who was willing to let me benchtest my game PCB board in his identical Centipede cocktail table and the game board was found to work just fine. But anytime i stick it back into my table i get the same scribbly looking screen.

Here is a link to a youtube video of my game screen:

Thanks for any help / advice in advance!

Horizontal Freq. adjustment I believe...

Do NOT use a metal screwdriver when adjusting the pots on the back of that board. Find something wood or plastic to do it.

If the Horizontal Freq. doesn't fix it, I would suggest reflowing the solder on the video connection on the board. I had the exact symptoms on my Centipede (albeit intermittently), and reflowing these connections was the solution.

Okay so the Horizontal Freq. adjustment did the trick. It was centered on that pot so i first started turning it to the left and started hearing a low buzzing noise and no improvement in the picture at all, then i began turning it to the right and the buzzing got lower and once i got it all the way to the right the picture came in nice and clear with no buzz! So thanks for the advice.

After i got the picture looking good though i turned it off and went to do some other stuff around the house. When i came back to it and turned it back on i got some wobbly looking screen which is shown in the first two attached pictures which gradually got a little better then after about 5 minutes it all the sudden snapped back into place and looked fine. I turned the machine off for a few minutes and tried again and it looked wobbly again at first but then quickly came in clear. After a few tests it seemed that if left off for more than about 5 minutes it took about 3-5 minutes for the picture to come in clear, if turned off for only a few seconds or minute it came back almost instantly. What could be causing this? Is this a game board PCB issue?

Also i spent some time adjusting the pots and got it looking pretty sharp as you can see in the third picture however I can't seem to adjust the whole picture once i get it where it looks correct up & down or to the left & right. If you look at the picture you can see that from player one perspective the scores are really way to high up and the second player score is pretty close to the right edge. So i think i need to center it somehow but none of the pots make any change to this so how do i make these adjustments? I messed around a bit with the horiz. centering tabs and vertical centering tabs but didn't see any visable improvement. Thanks again!

I'm going to bump this thread instead of starting a new one. My centipede has the exact same off center image as shown in the last pic above. Moving the horizontal jumper isn't helping.

What is the next thing to look at?
