centipede colors

plus when I put it in self mode is the machine supposed to do those beeps automatically to indicate the bad rams?

yes you will get beeps if you have a bad ram. no beeps mean no bad ram. as far as the red check the connector first that goes go the monitor chassis, withthe game off , pull it off and put it back on . see if thats helps or wiggle the edge connector at the board and see if your red comes back. i had my centipede missing red and that was the problem.

so pulling both connectors, and putting back again?? connectors are those black plastic thingys right?

yes they are on the main board ,there is a 5 wire connector that goes to the monitor too. try that with the game off!

ok i removed both too plastic thingys, now at I spot two ends of the connection silver metals, ( what are thay called?) are rusted or burned something like that let me show you in the pics

i dont have the red, the connection has already been made so no need to fix that, no beeps, so rams are correct, what seems to be the problem???

It could be a board problem, or it could be a monitor problem. Have you checked the red and red gain pots on the monitor? It could also be the connector (from the harness) at the monitor.

Yes. The color ones are typically on the neck board. Be careful adjusting them. I've been shocked by neck boards and monitor chassis before. Not fun.

ok guys, I did turn some dials, and fixed the attract screen and fist level, but the other levels dont seem right, I went into test mode, and some colors are missing, is there any scheamtic, or pics showing what colors are supposed to be in each frame in test mode, so i can fix it like that.
thanks again

anyone know how to adjsut colors for a centipede or a good way, i also checked out arcaderepairtips, but wasnt complex enough
please help me out
thanks alot

Are you getting red, green, and blue now? Or are you still missing a color? Can you take a picture?

If you're getting all 3 colors, then it might just taking some tweaking of the color knobs to get the right balance.

What your looking at is a board that has a burn edge connector.
The red wire you see stuck on the board is to provide power to your board.

With the machine OFF and Unplugged, There is a set of wires that goes to the monitor. If you unplug those and plug them back in they might cure the problem.

You might have a bad transistor (Black tiny square part with 3 legs). Find a friend who know electronics. The typical thing is to swap the red Transite with either the green or blue. If you get back red and Loose the green or blue than you know you have a bad transistor.

@barrysfarm, ok got some pics uploaded on photobucket starting from here http://s866.photobucket.com/albums/...226/hovoJoe/?action=view&current=IMG_0631.jpg, and also went into serice mode on mame, using a centipede rom, and i can also see that im missing alooot of colors displayed in test mode,
but one thing im sure of, iknow that my monitor is able to display red green and blue colors, (because i tweaked the colors of course)

@alphatron, the problem isnt from the edge connectors, as you can see the op had hackit up using red wire, becuase the edge connectors burned, so thaths that, and where are theese trasistors located?

If you're seeing red, blue, and green then you may want to try adjusting the overdrive for each color. It looks like the red and green are up way too high, or your completely missing blue. You may need to calibrate the monitor colors.
