I think Randy Fromm gave me his blessing to share the gospel on how to fix it... it involves disconnecting the connections to the heater voltage traces at the neck socket, you create a secondary winding you wrap around the flyback core, and you connect that in place of the normal heater voltage circuit. the idea is you're removing the ground connection to the electron guns, that removes the short condition, you're basically creating your own AC voltage in its place. I'll see if I can conjure up my own pictures.
