hey guys, ill be buying a centipede coktail this week, i wanted to know whats the monitor type, since when the machine was powered on, the colors were incorrect or werent showing like its used to, i checked the manual,http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arca...il/Centipede_Cocktail_TM-188_1st_Printing.pdf, but it dosent mention the name,
and do you guys think the problems from the monirtor, or pcb itself, or finally the powerr???
please help me out guys, its my first time buying an arcade,
many thanks in advance

Well, that manual doesn't detail what monitor is in the cab. In my experience Atari cocktails came with either G07-FBO, WG 4500, or WG 4800 monitors. Unless you can get the seller to send you pics you'll just have to wait and see.

Problems like you describe sound monitor related.

sound monitors?? i saw the machine, and read the manual, and saw that there are speakers in the coktail, so its not on the monitor, and its a 13 inch monitor,
thx for replyy

I think "sound" was meant in the sense of "seem to be" (not as in audio)

I think you misunderstood what I said. I believe the graphical problems you described, the incorrect colors and weak colors, are most likely monitor related. They could certainly be board related and it is unlikely, but still possible, that they are power supply related.

If I were buying the machine you are describing I would assume that I need to rebuild the monitor chassis (circuit board) in order to have a good machine.

my bad, sorry and thanks for replys
rebuilding,as in a cap kit
??

It depends on the type of monitor. A cap kit at a minimum but you may need to replace the flyback as well if it is a G07. Also check over the entire chassis for cold solder joints while it is removed from the frame.

if there werent modifications made to the screen and its intact, is my job easier???

If the machine is complete and currently running your job is fairly easy.

Cold solder joints are places where the solder has cracked. This crack leads to a break in the circuitry causing parts of the monitor not to work correctly.

The parts list from your above link (page 42) lists a Matsushita monitor. If you look at the second revision manual (your link is a first edition)....they switched to an Electrohome monitor. But....as others mentioned, there could be anything in there.
