Trying to help a friend with a blown monitor who wants to lcd it till he gets his chassis repaired.

Where is it safe on a stock Centipede to take 5v from for the convertor board or does he have to install an additional stepped power supply?

I've only ever installed those on driving games and there was buku 5v to borrow on those power supplies. Is it possible to do this with Atari without adding a stepped power supply?

I can't speak for how the converter boards work, but you can take 5V from any test point that says 5V.

Also, you'll presumably need a ground, which you can get from any GND test point.

On a Centipede? I wouldn't suggest it. The 2N3055 gets "set" in it's ways, and will probably fail if the load changes that much.

Just throw in a switcher to provide the 5 volts. Don't tap in to the power brick - leave that for the game.

It's a raster monitor. Should be easy to find someone to fix it. No need to LCD it at all, just send the chassis out and save the LCD / switcher money.

Yeah it's a temp solution. I used a switcher.

Now trying to figure the positive sync to the converter. There was a vid where a guy said only use the grey wire and pin 12 to the lower connector but isn't working .

Some info below but cannot vouch for the accuracy, I have never done it myself…
