Hi All, have been doing some reading on this and have failed to find an answer. My Baby Pacman's blue center drop target randomly drops on its own during gameplay at times, and I was not sure/am not sure if this is it's normal course of action. Is it supposed to just randomly drop or is something malfunctioning ? Also, while I am at it; Two of my playfield lights are out,(the left blue arrow and the n on the first row) and was wondering what bulb number those are and where i can find them. Thanks for your time! -Philip

Its a timed shot. The center drop target is on a timer and will drop by itself during gameplay. The time the target is up decreases with the number center arrows lit . When the last arrow is lit for "extra baby" the target is up for only 1 or 2 seconds.

The playfield lamps should be 555 lamps. Veryify it is just the lamp by switching in a known working lamp. If it doesn't light with a good lamp, you have a socket/wire/driver board issue.

I get lamps from pinballlife.com.

I just looked at the schematic and those 2 lamps are tied together at Q6. Most likely going to be a connector/driver board issue. (But try changing the lamps first)

thanks

thanks for the heads up and quick response. so far i tried switching lamps and the n still didnt light up, but interesting enough the left arrow that wasnt lighting; did in fact light up when i touched it to another functioning light. so i know the arrows bulb is not dead, nor is the n. the arrow comes on when touched but the n still doesnt come on when connected to working lamp(even after switching out bulbs. so im guessing it is either a solder issue near the lamp socket, possibly the socket itself, wiring, or even a diodode, or some other issue related to the board. I now feel totally overwhelmed as there are so many places to look and i am not sure in which order to go or how to tackle this( i need direction). if you have any further information i would really appreciate the help. thnx! - Philip

All correct. In my opinion you need to order an SCR 2N5060 (more than one would be good, as these can go out from time to time), and replace it at Q6 on your Lamp/Solenoid driver board. Both of the lights you mentioned run off of it, and sometimes one will stop working while the other keeps working normally.

Soldering skills are required, so if you don't know how, practice on some junk/parts boards if you have some. Also, be very careful of the traces lifting off of the board itself, as these old boards can be tough to solder on.

This sounds a lot like your issue, but make sure about the bulbs first since that's the easiest fix.

thanks but......

I appreciate your response, but I feel like you did not even read what I posted in response to the above post. ONE of the lights comes on at the q6 when jumped to another bulb, the other one doesn't come on at all no matter if its jumped, the bulbs switched out etc. im thinking that somehow the socket went bad in the lamp holder over the past few days, or the diode that is attached to the socket went bad but i have no clue. I will go ahead and order the part recommended and replace that but I know that is not going to fix the n light as ive changed bulbs, and connected working wires to it and still no response. do you have any advice on fixing or finding the root issue with this problem ? I looked inside the green fixture and it looks fine, but i just have no clue as to why it is not powering any of the bulbs that are placed in there anymore when it did two days ago.It was suggested it could be a wiring issue but i have no idea where to look as there are several connectors on this machine.

I did read it, but it wasn't very clear to me what you were describing. But, I think I understand now.

It could be as simple as a bad signal wire going to the one that won't work. Try replacing the entire wire from the solenoid board to the light. Also check and/or replace the common wire between the 2 bulbs.

Don't order the scr if you're sure about it.

First of all, Thanks! Sorry if I had a bad tone, just frustrated with this game;) Next, where can I get wire specifically used to replace the wire in something like my baby pacman? what about the common wire? is the common wire the braided shiny wire that runs all along the lights underneath the playing field? again thank you and man i really hope i get this figured out. not new to fixing arcade games but new to hybrids. a little bit tougher than i thought.
