Cedar Point Arcade w PICS!

Zork you didn't come see me, of course for the first half of the day I was out at lockers giving change and helping the ignorant.

The games have been there since new and the managers in the shop have a policy if it isn't completely broke don't fix it. The biggest problem is CP doesn't want to spend the money to fix the old games they would rather have it die and replace it with a new redemption game so they can make money.

It doesn't help that the Arcade attendants that work on the floor never tell us in the shop that something is broken or some guests don't tell anybody.

Write to Cedar Point so the higher ups see that people do want classic games in the arcade.

I did what I could but I got the job there to learn and that didn't happen the way I had thought it would.
That's cool that another KLOVer has worked on the arcade stuff at CP. :) My buddy and KLOV member JoshBrown80 spent a summer there as a tech (back in 2008 I think). I recall talking on the phone with him at least one time about that Tailgunner II cockpit. At the time I think he was fixing the monitor and ended up getting it running again.

We went there again Saturday. I always make it a point to spend time in their awesome arcade! I spend most of the time playing the EM pins along the back wall - especially Williams' Grand Prix. I also am usually able to set the high score on Robotron, but not that day. Someone had scored 600,000+ on it already and I didn't have it in me that day to beat it. Also CP is the only place I have ever played Lunar Lander - outside of MAME.

Sure some of the games are a bit beat, but since they are not the main draw for Cedar Point, they are bound to get somewhat neglected. Revenge From Mars ate a couple of my quarters, but the attendant gave me a credit for that.

On a side note, in the afternoon, it was only a 40 minute wait to get on the Top Thrill Dragster!!!! Usually the line is at least 2 hours long for that ride!

You must have been SUPER busy then! :)
Na I was lucky the wife let me go in there for the 10min she did to snap some pics....if I'd of found you, I'd of been in there for HOURS and my wife probably would have KILLED me! :)
I was going to stop back in on our way out of the park, about 915, some workers were moving some machines in, as I walked in, they said "sorry were closed" I noticed all the lights were on, and the machines were off.
If I make it back next year, I'll look you up a head of time, maybe I can get the nickle tour of the shop there? :)

Where you the guy that tried to walk in while we were pulling in Zoltar? If so I was standing next to guy that said it was closed and I saw the disappointment on your face.

I got some pics of the back room I'll have to get them off my old phone.

If I don't get another job I will be there next year.

LOL! Yep that was me! :) Ha, I told my wife I was going to set the fastest time on the one working
SF Rush on our way out......I was bummed when I saw things were getting shut down....

I grew up going to Cedar Point. I probably played most of those classic games at one point in my life. :)

I'd say you did the right thing. :D When I was a kid and even still being able to ride some rides, I spent more time in the main arcade and others than anything. As I got older I finally tried out some rides and became hooked, but it's always fun to go in and at least check out some of the high scores on the machines.

Heh, last time I went there with some college friends back in 95 or 96, I spent most of my time in it...I'm a wuss when it comes to roller coasters, so while my friends were all riding the wild ones, I was playing DK, Robotron, Pac-Man, etc :D

I was there this year and spent a good bit of time in the arcade (cold and rainy part of the day) They actually had two of those monster Hercules pins when I was there. But, like many others have already mentioned a high percentage of games were either not working or had issues.

I played Revenge from Mars a number of times even though it seriously needed some love and maintenance.

I want to say back in the 90's they had many more pins and if I remember correctly it's where I first played Medieval Madness. Can anyone confirm that they had one at one point? I cannot for the life of me think where else it could have been that I played it.

I do need to make it out to cedar point at some ... point in the future
