The wife and I made it to Cedar Point today for the final day of the 2011 season....
I managed to walk around the main arcade along the boardwalk and snap some pics. It is a VERY IMPRESSIVE arcade. Multiple classics..... I only wish I could have killed a couple hours in there.
Enjoy the pics...
Matt

Thanks for sharing the pics. :) My Red Baron cockpit was on location there at one point and it's good they still maintain a selection of classics mixed in with more modern stuff.

One thing missing from the pics... where are the people playing the games?!?

Hercules... I remember going to Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum as a kid and playing that thing... and I couldn't get the ball more than halfway up the field. The flippers were weak, which was a huge problem with a machine that big!

The park had JUST opened.....
I was the only person stupid enough to run right to the arcade instead of one of the rides with no lines......

I'd say you did the right thing. :D When I was a kid and even still being able to ride some rides, I spent more time in the main arcade and others than anything. As I got older I finally tried out some rides and became hooked, but it's always fun to go in and at least check out some of the high scores on the machines.

cedar point arcade

i have been to cedar point every year for past 3 years. the arcade has alot of classic games.....there is only one problem, most of them dont work, the coin mechanisms steal your quarters or dont work at all, the games have tremendous screen burn, the controllers dont work, just frustrating to me cause i always make it a point to go there for a few hours. i played the hercules looks nice but quite slow. the only game i was able to play consistently was asteroids deluxe it is still in decent shape. those games are very neglected in my opinion.

Zork you didn't come see me, of course for the first half of the day I was out at lockers giving change and helping the ignorant.

The games have been there since new and the managers in the shop have a policy if it isn't completely broke don't fix it. The biggest problem is CP doesn't want to spend the money to fix the old games they would rather have it die and replace it with a new redemption game so they can make money.

It doesn't help that the Arcade attendants that work on the floor never tell us in the shop that something is broken or some guests don't tell anybody.

Write to Cedar Point so the higher ups see that people do want classic games in the arcade.

I did what I could but I got the job there to learn and that didn't happen the way I had thought it would.

You must have been SUPER busy then! :)
Na I was lucky the wife let me go in there for the 10min she did to snap some pics....if I'd of found you, I'd of been in there for HOURS and my wife probably would have KILLED me! :)
I was going to stop back in on our way out of the park, about 915, some workers were moving some machines in, as I walked in, they said "sorry were closed" I noticed all the lights were on, and the machines were off.
If I make it back next year, I'll look you up a head of time, maybe I can get the nickle tour of the shop there? :)

Growing up in OH, I frequented Cedar Point all the time. It is the best "Roller Coaster" park in the world. The arcade there never gets enough recognition. It is, was, HUGE! I remember playing games there all the time. It's like 30,000 square feet. I distinctly remember playing Konami Aliens there.
Now I own it. Guess at this rate, I should own a "Demon Drop" too.
