Hi,
I have a CD100C Rowe
It keeps displaying the
ROWE
PLAY MUSIC
, ....
default factory stuff

I went into service 2-7 (message center) and all the messages were empty so I created 1 and 2

Yet it is still displaying the factory stuff

What am I missing ?

Normally, only the Rowe wall mount cd juke models can display the other messages.

Several years ago here in the Puget Sound region of Washington state, there was an advertising company that had hacked the Rowe jukebox firmware. They sold ads that could be displayed on the jukebox display during attract mode. I remember watching the guy do it. He had a laptop connected to the data line (RS-485) on the CCC board. He dumped the eprom data from the Rowe's CCC main chip, hacked the messages, then burned a new main eprom chip to replace the juke's original chip. It worked and scrolled thru multiple attract mode messages according to the time/date.

I also have a CD100F

and that CD100F displays the messages, .. I wonder if that one's hacked or not, ...
is there a way to tell ?

yeah I confirm, I go to message center 2-7 on that F and I can use the message, I just typed "I rule" and it now displays that

Check the software version number on the C model juke. It's probably an old version. Anything below version 3.9 is considered old. Old versions had bugs and much less functions.

The latest software is version 4.3

In the upper corner of the Central Control Computer is a rectagular cutout hole in which you can read the label on your main chip. The label says the software version on it.

Bruce Wentworth at A&B Jukebox Repair specializes in Rowe jukes and can burn you the latest software chip.

Nop it has the cd100 v4.3

In the cd100c v4.3

The cd100f has 3.7
That's funny the old one actually works nicer as it can change the message

How much does it cost for a 4.3 rom do you think ?

Set "Normal/Service" switch to "SERVICE".

Slide power switch to "OFF".

Press and hold keyboard "0" and "1" buttons down as you slide the power switch back to "ON".

Display should say "Loading Defaults".

"Clear Errors" (81) afterwards.

This resets the jukebox settings to what the factory shipped it.

By the way, you can swap complete Central Control Computers between those models.

well the factory reset

did reset it but It still work as design thus not displaying my text but that's ok
