Hello,

I picked up a CD-100E that had a bad channel. I ordered a set of transistors and the diodes between channels that had failed (1N4157 Forward Reference Diode, 2.7v V(fm), Do-35) as well. As far as I could tell everything checked OK, not the case though. This amp, the 61024903, has the latest driver boards with the three LED's, the 40710105. Well R29, R30 & 31 were a blaze on the left channel in under two seconds. This was the channel with no history of trouble, not the one that was out. The fuses were the correct size and unaffected.

I can not I find a schematic for the 40710105 driver board. After looking on the web for this and seeing pictures describing the 61024903 amp and the 40710105 driver board (but no schematic) I noticed that the pictures of the amps that I saw and mine looked different. I finally figured out what it was. The Amplifier Jumper Plug Assembly on my amp was apparently flipped around. I'm not sure what effect this may have had on my situation but it surly didn't help. I would think this is not the first time this has happened but I have not found documentation of what damage happens when this has occurred. I'm concerned about preamp damage.

Here is my question.
  • Does anyone have a schematic for the 40710105 driver board? I understand the CD100J manual has it.
  • What's the expected damaged when Amplifier Jumper Plug Assembly is turned around (I am assuming this is why 4 Power Transistors are now bad, R29, R30 & 31 on the left channel are burned open on the 40710105 driver board)?
Thank you for taking my questions. Your knowledge and experience are appreciated! Thank you.

Tom

I have a CD100F manual and it has schematic for a 40710104. PM me your email if interested.

i Never re-build an amplifier with out replacing the 4 x power transistors.....
as you have found out it can take out your driver boards.... OMG... Oop's
when doing a re-build i have found best to replace every thing from cap's to transistors
as you never know what has been over stressed to the point it is going to drop some thing else in the chain..
