I've been looking at carpet and have decided on Flagship's Dotscape. Here's my problem though. They'll ship it to my front door but I'm responsible for taking it off the truck. There's no way I can get 111 sq. yards of carpet off the truck and I don't know enough people to ask. The carpet places I've talked to want to sell me carpet. I had one try to sell me the same carpet at about $4 more per sq. ft. than what I could get it for myself, plus another $4 more for installation than I've been quoted.

I found a guy to install it but he doesn't have a contract. He said he'd pick it up from the freight company (assuming I can do that) and install it for $5 a sq. yd. I like him and don't have any reason to not trust him but it's unsettling letting him pick it up, without a contract or storefront.

Any suggestions? Many of you have carpet like this and must have found similar challenges?

Go to QT the day they deliver and get a few "day laborers"

Dumb question: What's QT?

I thought about something like this but the problem there is the trucking company only gives a time range, usually several hours, not a time. I'd end of paying people to stand around. Then there's the chance I don't find anyone that day.....

Pay the truck driver a little extra to help unload it and bring it in the house for you. You have a dolly?

Guy at my work did that with a 500lb gun safe that included curbside delivery.

Have it shipped to the freight terminal and meet the installer there to pick it up.
The terminals have the carpet pole attachment for the forklift and will load it.

Probably will reduce your shipping charge as well.

Last time I bought carpet from the mill in GA that is what I had done.
