So earlier yesterday, 10/30/12, my car became a sammich. Or sandwhiched between a 18 wheeler flat bed and a mazada 6. We all survived, me and the mazada 6 driver suffered small burns on our right arms from the air bag deployment......

My car is probably totaled so....no biggy I suppose. Still awaiting insurance appraisal, but I was 2 payments shy of having it paid, 60K miles and only 5 years old.

Actually the point of this thread is that I had a 19" VGA vision pro monitor in the back of my car when this happened. Surprisingly the monitor didn't sustain any damage except for one part.....the neck board socket ripped in two. I'm not sure if it's going to seat back down properly, but I wanted to know if anyone has any clue of where to buy new sockets for these? Or am I just stuck putting this back together and crossing my fingers that it works?

I don't have pics of the monitor's neck at this moment, but it's a 10 pin neck with 1 focus pin.

Damn dude, that could have turned out a lot worse. Glad you are ok. As for that socket, I bet you can pop it back together, use a little plastic glue if need be.

Ouchie. Glad youre ok. man, alot of crashing going on lately. I think i will be a little more careful going to work tomorrow.

Be sure and claim the broken monitor on the insurance claim.

if i can't fix it, i found that Chad our Monitor overhaul expert sells some sockets

but thanks for comfort lol, I'm dealing with a stiff neck now and a bad left shoulder blade while all at the same time I'm moving, and it was time to move my bigger part of my collection.....oye I'm just glad i had my boss's truck with a liftgate this time...and the heavier ones were on wheels.

oh the appraisal came through today and they totaled it.....so young....but even after that inccident, i couldn't possibly trust it to be 100% structurally sound.

Oh that will buff out :) j/k.Those air bags are nasty, when i went through to get my auto collision and refinishing degree, our instructor detonated a couple of those. Damn those things sound like a bomb going off and they left the nastiest smell. Just glad you guys walked away from it.
