I attended the entirety (6+ hrs) of yesterdays arcade auction in Anaheim, CA. I took a few notes of what prices games were selling at. Note this is unformatted and I didn't list things I had no interest in. There was a bunch of $25-$75 generic cabs I did not list. I don't like sports, redemption, fighting or shooting games so you wont see many of those listed. There were a total of 275 or so Items. Note before $ is condition if notable, commas after $ means multiple units. Here is my portion of what I heard:

It looked like the first Batman movie, with Kim Basinger on the Translite.

Most of the pins went to a phone person. The ones he wanted he got. No matter who else bid. He was on the phone with one of the employees of Captains.

The Flash and Playboy were very clean machines. The Flash in particular was super clean with all new rubber and a near perfect playfield. It played really well also. I tried to get it but did not come for pins and didn't have the needed cash so had to let it go to the $550 bidder.

There's a lot of buybacks at those auctions. Chances are if it was a good deal it will be for sale again at the next one. Sometimes there are good deals on classics but these auctions are typically newer equipment.

I had an awesome condition Flash I sold a few years ago. I got much less than $500 for it and it was for sale for a while. They made a ton of them and the game is not very challenging for an experienced pin player.

Yah, I'm not a pin player, that's why I liked the simpler ones. I think I played Flash as a kid as well.
I got some really great deals on what I got. There were a lot more classics than I was expecting.

Thank you for posting the results. It is always good to have research documented for the arcade games and Pinball machines. The pinball machines available on the market today are really far and few between for good fair prices. That is why Saturday's auction was so good. The pinball machines in the auction were a 100% sell through. Machines all picked up.
There will be a new batch of Pinball Machines at the auction in August.

Dude, remember a couple things.

1.) 15% auction fee + 10% tax. That turns any "decent" pin price into a SHITTY pin price.

2.) CONDITION! The pins were THRAAAASHED. Which would be fine if the prices reflected it....but the prices out the door could get you cleaner/nicer machines.

I think I'm done w/ these auctions. There's always some bidder "on the phone" that drives everything up, no matter how shitty the games are.

Amen.

I will give them credit for having the video games in generally clean shape and having power to them during the preview. Sometimes there are good deals on games but generally the sellers are not selling them for next to nothing like we used to see at Superauctions. Then again, Superauctions is dead.

Under the CA rules regarding auctions you are allowed to bid on your own items for sale.

I was on the phone a bit........

I was but I wasnt that guy I don think. The price on the Crypt was $1800 I think. I had a proxy on that one for $1725.

I got the Simpsons.

The Arabian Nights was supposed to be pretty beat up so I put in a proxy of 3000 on that and lost.

I buy things from him pretty regularly rather it be at auction or just calling him to see if he has it. Great guy to deal with and they actually did a repair job for me in LA.

Sorry Rarehero, I have to bid over phone, Ive bought about 10 pins from him and they are all filthy but usually great machines.

The TOTAN was back at today's auction. Or at least it looked very similar to the last one. Hard to say if it was the same machine though.

At today's auction I think it went for $2600. They had:

TOTAN
TSPP
POC
Teed off
Austin Powers x 2
High Speed
Rescue 911
BK2000
Bow and Arrow
Another EM game forget the name

and a few others

other em was chicago coin juke box or something like that. they also had Bally's The Game Show

i thought high speed and tee'd off went for reasonable/solid prices. bk2k went for too much (one of the sides was basically black and white it was so faded).

did you stay for the whole thing? im curious what some of the stuff in the other warehouse ended up selling for, like the three old school midway games, moo mesa 4 player and all those aero city cabs.

I watched that part of the auction on-line. That's really the way to go - attend the preview, then go home and bid on line. 9-10 hours at an auction is an insanely long time. Most of the stuff in the second warehouse did not go for much. I bid on line for the Sea Wolf but once it hit $200 I was out. It sold for $200. It was in nice shape and was the best classic in the entire auction (not that there were many classics). The Gun Fight with no boards sold for $10.

wow really? the gun fight cabinet looked really nice. the problem with bidding online is that the fee is 18% vs 15%...but I guess it is nice not having to stand around for hours and hours

At first the bid on Gun fight was $25 then it was changed to $10. I thought about it, but the game was missing the boards which can be found, but are not particuarly commonplace in working condition. A nice working Gun Fight is not worth much these days. Plus you really couldn't see what the sides looked like.

IMHO Sea Wolf is a better game. It was probably worth $200 but I wasn't going to pay more, especially since I could not power it up or look inside.

I remember when Gun Fight was new in the arcades...sure seems like a long time ago.

Moo mesa went at that auction for $75
Raiden Aero city $75
Centepede Aero city $150
Robocop Aero city $50
Kangaroo Aero city $100
Defender Aero city $150
SmashTV Aero city $100
Super Dodgeball Aero city $50
Moon Patrol Aero city $75

And if you think these prices are ridiculous deals, well, they are and I am the one who picked up the Moon Patrol near the end of the auction for $75. It was non working but I cleaned it up and got it going with a cap kit.

Wow, a bunch more giant games. I wouldn't mind having the Slither though. And there's a Simpsons that someone could grab. Otherwise, some cool titles if you have a ton of room for this stuff.
