Okay,I have a Rockman 2 the Power Fighters green board.I would love to find the usa equivalent Mega Man 2:the Power Fighters blue board, but years of searching has turned up absolutely nothing.

My question is....would it be possible to obtain the ROM info from a website such as MAME,give that info to some knowledgable person, have them burn the data onto some ROMs,and then slap them into my RM2 green board thus creating a makeshift MM2 blue board?

Just curious...or if anyone simply has and wants to sell me the board outright, just send me a PM right now. =D

Gutsman...you gotta hear me out

I want you to listen closely....Your cps2 boards are all gonna commit suicide one day...unless you do what I did and replace the ten dollar battery of course they are Phenixed and even if you do replace the battery, you still will be nervous...long story short....Sell all your CPS2 crap and get a Capcom CPS2 18-1 (It has all the games you are looking for), do not go mame, you will hate it for that game and burning roms would be sweet but rocket science for me....I will plug my 18-1 in cuz I swear it is Mega Man 2 (the us version) and not Rock man 2 : The Power Fighters, even though it is labled so.

I believe this is what he asking for, I have the full kit. I have a green board also. I also have a full cps2 collection 2 copies of every game in blue and green. The blue board version of megaman 2 is rare as they were made on demand at capcom coin op.

If you want the game in English just phoenix it and you can change the language which will make it a make shift u.s version but in spirit its still a green board. Do not buy those 18 in 1 boards which are the real crap as quality varies between each one to the point of it being unplayable

Replacement batteries don't cost $10 and if you think replacing batteries and or roms is rocket science you shouldn't even own any arcade gear

Yeah,it's still technically a green board.I really just want the original blue board. That's my grail.

I appreciate the concern, but I love my boards.I know they'll eventually suicide, but that's why I'm in the process of phoenixing them all.I've already had a couple done and they work great.

Right on

Right on...hope all goes well with the collection and phenoxing...the problems with the 18 in 1's are true but from a year ago...mine rips.

You don't need to be curious...

...because, the answer to your question is yes. Just send me a PM if you need some help with it.

Well there are collectors and gamers. A gamer would not mind a makeshift board but a collector would. If you want a real blue board you might non sarcastically need to give up your first born. But anyone can phoenix your green board and by default turn it into a blue one as far as language goes, the shell would still be green though.

Btw this was the most difficult to come by board

You two are in the minority as stories of people who bought those thing usually end with them begging for help trying to fix it.
Havent seen any complain myself, and I've done a lot of research on them and the boards are using the original hardware, I dont know why the quality would be different.

I think you're confusing the CPS1 14-in-1 which the early versions were known to be buggy (and were actually 16-in-1's at the time)...

I've not seen a single person bitch about the CPS2 18-in-1... though I am sure there is SOMEONE.

I've never seen that board in my life.Never even knew it existed. If I remember correctly, weren't the yellow boards rent or sales pitch versions to try to get arcade ops to buy the boards? And I don't have any kids, but the phrase "take my wife please" comes to mind! Hah! Anyway,as long as I've been searching for this stuff, price really isn't much of an issue to me.

no I know what I am talking about. You guys need to actually look on other blogs outside klov. Here is one issue as I'm not going to search through archives. It doesn't matter if it uses original hardware as the software is hacked to do something the hardware was not designed for.

The hardware does exactly what it is supposed to... Play rom images of the games...

As for his problem... All it would take is a bad wire, or a bad rom, or a bad motherboard.

I am sure that there are lots of problems with these things... They are chinese made junk... His problem could have also possibly been fixed with a reset... Who knows?

That being said, I never had a problem with mine.

Actually... I guess when it comes down to it... I have no problem with mine... and that is all that really matters... to me.

I had a CPS2 cab... got up to about 8 or 9 B-boards... then decided to sell them. After a while I missed a couple of the fighters and when I had an opportunity to build a CPS2 cab again, I went the 18-in-1 route. I've got the audio pumping through a Logitec 2.1 system... of course mounted in the cab... the bass is outrageous!

I love my 18 in 1 as well. I bought it to play both D&D games and they play beautifully.

As for the argument about collector vs player - I consider myself a player and I collect games in order to play them. I don't put them on a shelf to collect dust, if it doesn't get played it goes away. If you are a true collector you'd never Phoenix the board, it destroys the originality.

If I have a 1965 Ford Mustang and decide to throw a crate 302 into it I destroy the originality of the car. I consider Phoenix the same, it greatly enhances the reliability but destroys the originality. Since I drive my cars instead of hiding them in a garage the reliability is a major positive.

I consider the 18 in 1 more like an aftermarket ground up build of a car. Almost all of the pieces have been replaced with aftermarket parts, most of which are inferior. However that doesn't mean that it will not work and even be more reliable than the original despite the fact that some of the lower quality parts are more likely to fail...
