Capcom CPS2 18 in 1-multi REVIEW

I'm interested how the wiring works for P3 and P4 if you select a game that has 4 players? This question applies to the cps2 18 in 1 as well as the cps1 14 in 1.

Thanks..

Tusk, when you play HSF2 with OG characters do they have all the sounds? On my board none of the old characters have sounds. Only sounds they have are the hit and block ones.

I had the same problem with my board, that was until IT CRAPPED OUT TODAY! I get nothing but blue screen now regardless of what game I try to select. The menu is still there, but the background is pure blue with no sound.

Interestingly, I also had sound problems leading up to my board's (semi)-failure. First the background music and any Q-Sound effects would start slowing down. It's almost hard to explain, but the sounds themselves were "right", but the tempo of the music would start to gradually slow. If allowed to slow all the way to a stop, the Q-Sound ROM check would fail the next time I tried to boot into any game, and the launcher would hang. It "gets better" if you unplug the machine for a while and then restart it, but the same problem takes place after a couple of hours of play.

The seller I purchased the board from has been fantastic about trying to get the issue fixed, but his provider hasn't made good on the promised replacement board yet, so I've spent the entire summer with a half-finished 18-in-1 project cab gathering dust in my game room.

I went the 18-in-1 route because I hadn't been able to find a legit Super Turbo B board after months of looking. If I had it to do over, though, I'd probably have just settled for Alpha 3 or something.

This just happened to me today, I've owned the board for over a year, used it on and off and occasionally had problems with a green screen on load (had to switch games a few times before something would come up), and then get the CPS2shock exception messages occasionally.

Strangely after the board ran for a bit it usually was OK, but today I couldn't get it up and running for more than a few seconds. Pretty sure it's gone, but if anyone has experience with these kinds of problems with these boards I'd be interested in reviving it.

One thing about these boards that I've done is add a fan blowing across it. They run HOT (like the original CPS2 boards)... and because there is no fan like the original CPSII case, they get hot hot hot...

Correction, the board still works. It appears that a ground connection on my cabinet got severed at the harness. I've replaced the entire jamma connector and it works again. I think Frizz makes a good point about the temperature issue. The board does get pretty hot.

Check the connection between the boards.....

New 18 in 1 help

Just got the 18 in 1 board so...how do I connect it to my existing cab? (sorry for the newbie question, but this my first mod) I assume the jamma harness connects on top of the OSD board? So should I pull out the key to make it fit?

Yep, you just need to remove the key -- just make sure you don't lose track of the harness' orientation. If your harness' "parts" and "solder" sides aren't already marked, I'd go ahead and do that with a paint marker.

Pay close attention to getting the OSD board "centered" when you attach it at both the A board and the harness. There's some wiggle room at both connection points, so it's possible for the OSD board to be off-center causing bad contact.

yea i was getting wierd green colors but i think sum wire were touching ground or sumthing cuz i moved sum wires around and it fixed it but wait my board works good except the the street fighter 2 aniversay every time i choose it takes me to giga war or watever its called

GigaWing.

And man that sucks, cause SF2A is AWESOME! Not that Lady GagaWing is bad, it is very good too!

My board has developed an issue (or always had it and I just never noticed). I can't coin-up Aliens vs Preditor. It will load up, but it won't coin up... and it doesn't have a FREEPLAY mode...

Strange....

Try the coin chute settings...

And/or reset shit.
