Hey Guys,
Thought I'd review this multi board since I haven't seen much info on it.
First the games:
Games look and play perfect to me. No glitches or crashes so far. Capcom code playing on Capcom hardware. Graphics are great, but there is a "Phoenix" rom stamp that comes up as each game boots. Sound is awesome. Two speaker mono works fine. I have a seperate Capcom Cps2 amp that's connected with the "A" board outputs Left and Right channels via rca cables for full blown Q-sound. It sounds great!
1 Giga Wing
Fun little vertical shooter made for a horizontal monitor. Typical Japanese storyline, big eyed nymphs flying ultra powerful space jets.
2 Rock man 2 : The Power Fighters
Kids love the cartoony colors, simple game play and arcade sounds. I myself....meh...it's Megaman with boss battles, no side scrolling platforming.
3 Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
A real crowd pleasing button masher.
4 Ring of Destruction : Slam Masters II
If I didn't know better I'd say this game was developed by SNK.
5 Super Puzzle Fighter II X
Gem puzzle game. Has not aged well, but fun if you play against someone competent in versus mode.
6 Hyper Street Fighter II : The Anniversary
Probably worth the asking price alone. Was only released in Asia.
7 Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior's Dreams
see #9
8 Street Fighter Zero 2
see #9
9 Street Fighter Alpha 3
Best of the Alpha series.
10 Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire
Best of the 3 Darkstalkers games here.
11 Dark Stalkers : The Night Warriors
see #10
12 Night Warriors : Darkstalker's Revenge
see#10
13 X-Men : Children of the Atom
Weakest of the Marvel Comics fighters.
14 X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Great animation. Great game.
15 Dungeons & Dragons II : Shadow Over Mystara
Very nice to have these, but has not aged well.
16 Dungeons & Dragons : Tower of Doom
Very nice to have these, but has not aged well.
17 Alien vs. Predator
Still a very popular franchise in some circles, even though the terrible movie series nearly killed it.
18 Battle Circuit
Bizarre side scrolling beat 'em up. Fun!
Games that could have been left out:
Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior's Dreams- with SFA:3 present this will get little playing time.
Street Fighter Zero 2- with SFA:3 present this will get little playing time.
Dark Stalkers : The Night Warriors
Night Warriors : Darkstalker's Revenge
X-Men : Children of the Atom
CPS2 games that should have replaced the above:
Capcom Sports Club
Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire or Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers' Revenge
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness
Marvel Super Heroes
Armored Warriors
Hardware:
They've taken a Cps2 "A" motherboard and uncased it.
Mated it with a modded "B" board with the game ROMS
Roms are the same ones used on Phoenixed game boards.
A big mess of soldered wires on the back side of the "kick" harness port. I just used the "kick" harness already in my cab. Good if you can't find one or are to cheap to buy one. I suppose you could clip those off if it bothers you.
Menu board that runs a basic menu system.
Noted things:
Cps2 Q-sound works great.
Graphics look perfect, except the "Phoenix" stamp may offend some people.
Free-Play, game difficulty, attract mode sound, audio & video set-up work fine. You have to access each games set-up menu via the test button on the "A" board. Changes are saved to EPROM.
Basic menu system, press player 1 button to access menu and add 1 credit to switch games. I had to add a credit button to the top of my cab, which may turn some people off.
Overall a great buy!
Could use some tweaking on the game roster though.
