Capcom Big Blue Guide

Interesting; more pics? From the hip, I'd say knights of the round?

Did any big blue gen 1 cabs come from the factory with 2 marquees? This has a 3p 2 button layout. The bottom marquee was pretty well preserved under some sticky back vinyl. I'd like to restore it back to original but this cab was completely stripped before the golden tee conversion

It would be nice to get a few more detailed pictures but I still believe this is something an operator put together on his own. A few interesting points to note here.
  • The upper bracket holding the upper half of the dynamo labeled marquee is completely different finish from the speaker panel. If this was something done from the factory that would be one huge glaring issue.

  • Second, it's being secured by standard Phillips screws which in an area so easily accessible to the average person would be a huge no-no in the business.

  • Another interesting point is that the piece of wood bracing the marquee is made of MDF while the rest of the cabinet seems to be made of particle board. The baton holding up that would bracing is also made of plywood while the rest of the batons seem to be made out of oak or some type of hardwood.

  • Last but not least which is the most glaring part, it seems the cabinet is a 3-KOAM manufactured big blue and not a dynamo.

I'm trying to replicate a speaker panel but can't tell where I should cut my speaker holes. Can you show me what the speaker panel looks like for this model of Blue (pic 1, pic 2, pic 3)?

I've got width of 27". However, I'm unclear if a portion of the wood is hidden behind the black metal bracing. I THINK the height is something like 8.317". Is that correct? And should I cut my speaker holes in the vertical center of the wood, at something like 4.16"? I ask because, in the pictures, it appears that the speaker holes are actually in the bottom third of the panel and not centered vertically. Thanks.
Same issue here. I have the original speaker grill, so I can offer the measurements for the grill and speaker box (face)

Grill is 157mm x 118mm, box (and grill frame) is 137mm x 177mm.

If anyone can measure the height & width (and thickness) of the speaker bezels that would be much appreciated!

Does anyone have the measurements of the metal brackets that go on the corners of the control panel support box (circled in red)?bracket-dimensions.jpg

H: 1.5"
V: 5.25"

Bend is approx 45 degrees

Obviously appropriate values

Thanks, @DuffCon! For the same cabinet, anyone have high-resolution scans of the control panel stickers around the joystick and the punch/kick?

I don't know about scans, but gameongrafix has the decals. There's several variations, other vendors have them.

@R64 thanks for the measurements. They actually brought up another question. I think the speaker cone is 5.25" based on another post in the thread. How is the mesh cover big enough to accommodate that with a height of 4.625"? In the pictures I've seen, like this one, the entire cone is visible. I'd expect either the speaker cone is smaller than 4.625" or the mesh is bigger.

I'd say they are on par with most shops. They do offer laminated CPOs, both my big blues has their stuff
would you recommend putting a plexiglass layer on top of the CPO, even if it does have a laminate layer?

Depends on you. I don't use them, but I'm gentle on my stuff.

Hi, after many months of waiting, I finally got my repro control panel. I did notice though that i need some joystick mounts. Does anybody know where to get some from? They measure 5.5 x 4.75 inches.

I've never found a source; you may have to invent your own

SHOW US YOUR COIN BOXES!

This is a great long thread with a bunch of good pictures but not a lot centered around the coin boxes. I have a Gen1 Big Blue with a 3 slot wide coin door, but no internal coin box or bracket. I'm working on restoring this to coin acceptable status but need a source for a coin box and holder that are appropriate for this door. Not a lot of examples out there that I could find on what these cabinets originally had (apart from the standard tall coin door / box assembly).
