Going to start my restoration project for my first gen Capcom Big Blue and wanted to see if anyone had some specific color codes they could share? I've seen a few Blue shade options wanted to pick out the right one for the job.

There were two different manufacturers for the first generation Big Blue cabinets. The laminate used by Dynamo is a different, deeper shade of blue compared to the heat bonded vinyl used by 3-KOAM for their big blue cabinets.

I believe the first gen big blue I have was originally commando cab & I did see a 3-KOAM tag in the back, I personally like the deep darker shade of blue compared to the lighter, but would like to see which color code is best.

Hey - just today I scanned a SM2000 big blue panel at the paint shop. (Bunnings, in Australia)

Here's what they gave me.

Might be useful elsewhere, or not.

Seems to be slightly different finish and colour compared to the 4P Captain Commando cabinet I have though (chip on the RHS of 3rd pic).

Sweet thanks I'm looking for the same style deeper blue color. I appreciate you sharing this to me, hopefully i'll get a good color out of my restoration. I'm definitely trying to stay clear of the lighter blue that's for sure.
i'll add this to my color samples & pick on out in couple weeks when I'm ready to get close to painting.

I will sample the other one too when I get a chance. Back to the paint shop...

I found a great color match that one of the members had shared their color code on here & it looks really nice, I'm still in process of restoring it but can share later.
@Kaysway007 do you mind sharing the color code / brand and maybe a shot of the results? Would be awesome to see.

Nice. Please post when you get your results or a dab of the paint. I may go get a test sample mixed up. Comparing against Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel, but that one's pricey.

Yeah will do I start next weekend on painting the cab and will try to post pictures, a quart costs me around $24.00 I do have sample color when I open can but it's best to see what it looks like when on the cab and paint has cured in after two coats for at least 24 hours.

Hi, i was curious how the blue color turned out?
I will send pictures soon because I'm still in middle of restoration, however I will say the color code I used came out to be perfect.
I love this specific shade of blue because pictures don't do it justice.

This type of blue blends well in sunlight not too dark or bright & without brightness it leans towards 2/3rd gen.

I will update this thread soon.

Here it is all finished the color code I found & used was awesome & the photos don't do justice on how nice and vibrant the color scheme looks, also it blends nicely with different lighting conditions changing from vibrant blue tone from natural sunlight to night time with deeper blue tone.
So overall it was a great color match my personal favorite blue.

Here is a before & after of my Capcom Big Blue restoration project all completed now.
This cabinet had allot of work done including cosmetic body work & needed full restoration from the ground up.
I'm very pleased with the results it looks like a showroom factory condition machine, plus I'm happy I was able to save it.
