Can I replace a 160uf electrolytic capacitor with a 180uf electrolytic capacitor or should it be of the exact same value. The reason I ask is I have a 180uf kicking around and would like to use it if it is safe to do so.

It really depends on the function of the cap. If it's used to help filter the voltage off a power supply, you can sometimes use a slightly different value. Other times no way. What game and where is it located?

Probably more important is to make sure is has at least as high a voltage rating as the cap you are replacing. 'lytic caps are often 20% value tolerance anyway, but will fail if you over voltage them.

Oh,
And make sure you get the polarity right or it will go BOOM! :)
[well, ok... maybe pop, fizzle... pffft ]

Yes, good point. This cap, in paticular, is for filtering the high voltage to the displays.
