I need a ".22uf" ceramic cap for a mod to prevent line noise in the Guns N Roses Pinball magnet circuit. Of course I don't have a .22uf ceramic cap ... Radio Suck doesn't carry said cap and well... it sucks having to pay $3.00 shipping for a $.25 part.

I've seen this mod written up as using .27uf caps too... but?

Anyway... I should be able to run 2 .1uf caps in parallel to get .2uf... right? Can I run 3 .1's to get .3uf?

Wtf?? Do they have anything close? The value is not exactly critical.

Yes.

Radio suck has .1uf... and I have a bunch sitting here as well. They (Radio Shack) are about as close to useless for real electronics as can be.

But I can get a cell phone there.

I was hoping to get this done today. If you guys are suggesting I'd be much better of holding off until i can get to Agem rather than running 2 or 3 .1uf in parallel... I guess I'll have to hold off on my plans of getting `er done today.

:)

I do value the opinion of you folks in the know.

Lol I bet that by the time you even drive there the $3 shipping would look good. That place isn't that close is it ? I know for me it was pretty far coming from Meridian and I had to be pretty desperate to drive out there.

If they were open it would have worked out great. I am going to my friends house a little later today and he happens to live in Caldwell off City Centre... about a mile from the place.

Unfortunately... being the mom n popper they are... they're closed Sundays.

:(

EDIT: This is also why I'd rather just use the parts I have on hand. It's only for signal noise suppression... I figure I'll give it a go. Worst that could happen is that it won't work and I'll be out a couple of .1uf caps. No biggie.

:)

Just use the caps in parallel. Try two or three. See which works best or if there is even a noticeable difference.

I'm not familiar with that mod but I'm guessing the actual capacitance value required is quite variable.

Yeah ... evidently the wire going from the backbox to the magnet board under the playfield is long enough to introduce interference which causes magnets to lock on thereby blowing the fuse...

I have one magnet that locks on now ... and I'm hoping this fixes the issue.

I'll post the result shortly.
