So I'm in the process of converting a 4900 neckboard to replace my 5515 neckboard which is broken in half. Yes... I know... I could fix the cracked neck board. In fact I did it once the first time cracked the same neckboard. But this time it's cracked right down the middle so getting all the traces reconnected would have been a hassle so I decided to try the 4900 conversion. I'll document the process when I'm done (and whether it works or not).

Anyway, the question is this:

One of the components I'm replacing is a ceramic capacitor. It's C404 on both neckboards On the 4900, it's specified as 1500 pF, 1.5KV and on the 5515, it's specified as 1500 pF, 1.5V.

If I'm not mistaken, I should be able to leave the higher voltage (but same capacitance) cap in that spot. Is that correct?

It's a typo in the parts listing. the schematic clearly shows it as a 1.5kv...

BADABING! Nice spot. I'll be leaving the cap in place then. The parts that I'm changing out, I'm replacing with new parts. Now I just need to find one resistor and I should be able to fire it up.

I'll let you know how it goes.

To answer your original question, replacing a cap with one which has a higher voltage rating is absolutely fine. As is replacing a resistor with one which has a higher wattage rating.
