The Defender power supply has an 18,000 x 20v capacitor onboard. I seen a post in passing were someone joined 2 smaller axial capacitors together to make the near equivalent. I'll be damned if I can find it again. Anyone know what the values would need to be? I've checked my supplier and they dont make or stock a capacitor with a value of 9,000. Honestly I don't even know if that's how it would work (2 x 9,000 = 18,000). I know that the voltage is not as important, as long is it's not lower and combined equals >20 (correct?).

Rumor has it that Santa's bringing me a new soldering station for Christmas. I thought I would make a run to my local supplier and grab a few parts to solder over the 4 day weekend. I recapped my Defender ps awhile back but never did the mammoth sized one on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

bob roberts has one...or use to! You could use 2 caps of 9000uf in parallel as long as you maintain the same or higher voltage rating
