I have a monitor board where alot of the caps have oozed their inside crap on the board . I'm about to do a cap kit but wanna clean the board up . Any one got tips on cleaning the crap up ? Usually I just hose it off and let it dry off out side , but this cap ooze it pretty bad .

That "cap ooze" is probably not from inside the caps at all. This was a type of epoxy that was put against certain caps (usually the large ones) to keep them from vibrating during operation.

I usually just try scraping them off if they cover the lead holes. Otherwise I leave it alone....

cool , I didn't know if leaving it there would cause problems later . Less work is always good !

Sorry Mod, tried to give you some props with the Reputation system for this response, but the system tells me to spread it around before I can give it to you again... So you get public props instead. :)

modessitt's advice is always golden !

cadillacman has informed me that this is a coil on my WG K7000 board , are these easy to replace ? It too is leaking as well as the caps ,

Coils don't leak anything, they are just wire wrapped around a piece of metal.

I actually considered giving this answer, but then realized that if it DID somehow short out and overheat, the plastic coating would melt and look like it was "leaking", so I went another route...

I don't think Joey was listening, when you said that is glue to eliminate or minimize vibration Mod.

Yes he was using big words like epoxy , mmmm...whats epoxy.....

you need to make it easier for me to understand , like caveman talk ....
