Hi guys,

I have a monitor that I recapped, and the color is brilliant. As much as I adjust my monitor, it doesn't display a picture on the bottom half inch or so of the screen, and that half inch is a dim purple. The picture that displays is very good.

Here's a cross hatch, I can't get the bottom row of boxes any better, they're quite a bit shorter than the next row.

What part do you think needs replacing? I have replaced the caps, and I have a spare Flyback but I don't think it's that. Could I have missed a cap maybe?

Hi,

Yes you should read the sticky but it looks like you need to adjust the yoke (I know you only did a cap kit but that is what that looks like)

What monitor is it?

Did it work before the recap and not have the bottom screen issue?

Did you touch the yoke or convergence tabs?

I'd say adjusting the yoke is a last resort, as you have a better chance of seriously screwing up the entire alignment. Although the pic looks like a purity issue in the corners, you could try getting some of those small convergence strips (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=207736) which slide under the yoke to adjust the corners, or try convergence purity magnets (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=229661) which stick onto the back of the tube.

I had a similar problem looking problem in one corner of my vector monitor, which turned out to be magnetic interference from a new set of speakers that were installed in the cab (http://arcadefever.blogspot.com/2011/11/diy-speaker-sheilding.html).

Remember, these are analog monitors, not digital computer monitors, so its very rare to get perfect alignment. I think all my cabs have some kind of small convergence issues on the edge or corners, which can be hidden by adjusting the size of the picture. Usually its not noticeable when a game is running, or at least nobody has ever commented on it when they play on my cabs.

first off what chassis is this. it screams K7000 to me.

to me it looks like your linearity is off a bit.

on your cross hatch screen are you talking about how the boxes on the bottom and the sides are not wite like the others?

if this is the case that cross hatch pattern is supposed to be like that.

i have seen many games use that style and many games that don't.

if none of theses are your issue then aside from the brightness being up to high and your colors needing adjustment and possible linearity issues .
i do not see anything wrong with your monitor.

the convergence and purity look pretty spot on and as good as it gets for a CRT.

Peace
