I've got dip 8 on DS bank at 9L set to 'on' like the manual says, but I get nothing. I've tried turning dip 8 on on the other ds bank, still nothing. What diode/resistor/cap/chip should I check? Something I can track down and replace?

Check your dip switch with a meter. Could have internally tarnished contacts preventing it from electrically closing.

I've never had to troubleshoot a dispwitch problem myself, but I would assume that you could check for continuity on the solder side when the switch is on. I don't know how likely it is a dip switch would fail, but it couldn't hurt to rule it out.

Edit: Ken beat me to the punch, but it looks like my advice wasn't too far off. :)

Where do I put my leads, what setting do I set my meter to and what am I looking for?
I would think you'd just be looking for continuity. Set the dip switch to on and then meter between the 2 solder side points of that switch and you should have continuity if the switch is working okay.

Set the meter to continuity or Ohms check, put the leads on each lead of that particular dip sw and then cycle the switch. You should see it change from 0.1~.03 to open on Ohms check and you should hear an audible beep on the continuity check.
