Can't figure out where Spy Hunter ground strap goes

Hi folks,

I have a Spy Hunter I am working on, and one of the yellow ground straps from the power chassis is disconnected.

I can't find a diagram that shows where they all go.

It is a very short strap...it seems like it could only reach the power supply board or the main PCB (barely). I don't see anywhere on the power supply board it would make sense to attach. There are some holes on the board, but none with a ground trace connected.

It is just slightly longer than the strap that goes to the accelerator pedal.

Can anyone help or possibly just point me at a pic of the inside of a cabinet?

thanks

I have got a (non working) spy hunter too, and have the same thing.

Maybe it's the way it should be? If not, i would also like to know where it has to go.

It is hard to believe it is the way it should be...but there is basically nothing it can reach...I am baffled. Another possibility is it connects somewhere on the power chassis, but that doesn't really make sense...

Oh, mine is also non-working at this time, I think because of another issue, but...

Need to find a working machine and take a peek inside...

connects to the metal plate on the pcb most likely.

That was my first thought, but it doesn't really reach. It would be a very tight stretch, if there is even a hole present at the lower corner on the plate, which I'm not sure there is.

OK i looked at mine it has 3 grounds 1 to the monitor chassis, 1 to the coin door with a jumper to the control panel, and 1 to the pedal.
Hope that helps.
if you got one to short for any of those then someone messed with it before you and did a bad job at it.

Strange.

I have all 3 that you have.

I ALSO have a strap that goes to the cheap squeak board, and another strap that goes all the way up to the speakers, and this 3rd extra (6th total) strap that goes nowhere.

These straps look ancient and all the same...hard to believe they were not done at the factory.

I have one to the speakers as well, which is really strange because there is also a stranded copper wire to them. Double grounded, what's the point? Don't have the one you are talking about though.

It is weird to me how many different ways they built the cabs.

3 grounds, 4, 6...strange stuff.

Do you have the ground to the cheap squeak board?

I think 5 or 6 is the norm. Machines with less have probably had them removed at some point.

Same here

I have been wondering about this as well. It these were done in an assembly line fashion perhaps they connect one extra, the PCBs were installed and the extra strap was left? Odd???
