Guys,

Have a 19k7000 that has HV shutdown. Tried removing D10, comes up, which supposedly means voltage regulator. Replaced IC4 (and all caps). Still nothing. Checked everywhere for cold solder joints. Still shuts down. Where do I go from here?

Voltage on blue lead of R503 is 178 VDC.

Help?

John

There are four different regulators used in the production run. You need to replace like number with like number part. Also that regulator requires a mica insulator between it and the metal frame. Don't forget you also need to smear a thin film of fresh silicone heat sink grease on both sides of that mica insulator AND on the back of that new regulator.

Did you install a brand new regulator?

Yes, I replaced with a brand new one of same number from Bob Roberts. I put new silicone on the back of the regulator, but not on the other side of the mica. I did make sure the mica was still there and intact.

Sometimes the HV shutdown adjustment pot goes bad. That damn glue Wells-Gardner uses (or over-uses) makes the pot go bad.
