Can't buy the Multipac 96-in-1

he sold one his last units to me a couple months ago when i went over there

not sure when he's going to crank out some more

Hard guy to get a hold of. I'm trying to get the Exidy Collex'n if it's still available. Haven't heard yet.

Also, does anyone know if the 96-in-1 will work on a Ms. Pac 3 board? I'm getting mixed messages about it working on a hack. Thanks.

A friend of mine has a unused, never installed 96-in-1 kit that he would like to sell.

I sent a PM to the OP, but have not heard back.

If you are interested, PM me and I will give you his e-mail address, if the OP passes or does not respond.

what the heck is ms pac-man 3?

Yep, it's a hack. Clyde is more yellow than orange and the Pink colors are more fleshtone color than anything. Other than that, not much difference. Still, not too shabby for a single-board Ms.

@mattosborn: So it should run?

Sure. You just need to make sure the socket you plug the graphics ROM board into is strapped correctly. If your colors are off on the board now then they will continue to be, as the kit does not replace the color PROM.

Makes sense.

One PM offer also fell through for me, on inquiry. But I'm looking for the multipac as well. Thanks.

So I bought shilmover's 96-in-1 and installed it tonight. Just before powering it up, I triple-checked everything and noticed... this!

This shows 4 wires between the main PCB and the MultiPac Z80 daughterboard. Only one of the wires is connected on the daughterboard. I'm not sure if the unit came this way, or the solder joints were poor & broke during installation...or is it supposed to be this way? In any case, it's definitely not shilmover's fault because the unit he sold me was sealed and brand new.

Question: is this normal? If not, which wires should I solder to which numbered joints?

many thanks,
grimholtz

grimholtz,

Definitely not normal. The kit was not new (Hope I didn't make you think that when I originally offered it to you as I never presented it as such). The wires were attached properly as I tested it before sending it, but something obviously happened.

Anyway, three options for you:
1. Send the kit back and I will refund your full amount plus the $5 to ship it back to me. I will fix it and resell it.
2. Send the kit back and I will fix it and send it back to you (I will cover the shipping both ways).
3. I can help you fix it if you are comfortable with soldering the wires that have broken.

Your choice. :)
