Can't adjust +5v on Space Invaders power supply

To the OP - check the high wattage resistor near the 305. Judging from the picture I see its been pretty hot (you can see heat marks from it). The LM305 outputs a voltage in addition to the 2n3055, with the resistor in between. If that resistor is open, you're getting only the output from the LM305 and not the 2n3055. I guess the best way to tell would be to check the voltage at each side of the resistor too, but its easy to just desolder one side to check.

You can also check the second resistor down, in the pack just above and to the left of the 305 (if facing the supply with the harness connector to the left). You'd have to disconnect the sense strap which is the loop near the harness plug that you have +5v test written at. With the loop connected I'm getting I think 680 ohms, and thats not affected by the 5v pot at all, even though its hooked up to it.

DogP was right too - if you really look at the schematic, the -sense line is seperate from any commons/grounds, and it actually gets grounded through the harness to pin 14 on the main motherboard. If that pin isn't making contact - no sense circuit operation.

I swapped in another power supply and this one has the +5v working and it is adjustable via the pot. When plugging in the PCB, the +5 drops just a touch but is still above +5v. The screen shows garbage.

This shows me that my problem (at least the first problem) is with the power supply. I should be able to adjust the voltage via the pot and I shouldn't be dropping down to .6v when the PCB is plugged in.

I'll check those resistors you mentioned and see if they are okay.
