Hi;
I just installed a VP in my Tron and I get a constant right to left roll! No matter the wiring combination:
+vert and +horiz sync hooked up
-vert and -horiz sync hooked up
Just +horiz sync hooked up
Just - sync hooked up
I get the same right to left roll no matter the combo which is strange as usually when I swap sync wires in project, most of the time the display is all messed up but in this situation, I can read the display, (if I blink very fast) in every combination, just that it keeps-a-rollin'. I searched the forums but have not found a solution, what am I doing wrong?

BTW, I had to fabricate my own harness as the original was missing. I used Mikesarcade wiring diagram and tied all 3 GNDs from the PCB to the 1 single black GND wire to the monitor. Then ran R-R, G-G, B-B, Vsync to Vsync and Hsync to Hsync.

Any hints?? Thanks in advance.

Jeff

From what I understand Vision Pro monitors won't work with MCR games. Use that monitor in another game and swap the monitor from that game into the Tron.

SOB!...............

Thanks for the advise and saving me boku wasted hours trying to make it work.

I'll swap it and see how it goes.

Thanks again
Jeff

Takeman recently sent me this via PM about a Spy Hunter sync issue (SH is also an MCR game):

Takeman said:
This may sound retarded, but try putting a 1n1004 (1n914, 1n4148, 1n400x) inline on the solid black wire. Unbanded side towards the monitor chassis. I did this on a tapper with a newer happ monitor. Had a slow roll that would not lock, made it perfect.

I got a VP to sync up fine with my Spy Hunter.

I did have other issues though including brightness shifts at some points during the game so I eventually removed it.

I put a brand new 19" vision pro in my DOT and it works perfectly.
I'm trying the same monitor in my Tron next. I'll report back.

Some VP's have a white "sync selector" button on the chassis. If you're having sync issues, push it.

Sync is negative sync. If hooking up both don't work, try only the -H...

I battled with a Vision Pro in our Tapper off and on for the past year. I finally waved the white flag this past weekend and put it back into our Crazy Climber(and put a G07 into Tapper).

The Vision Pro would sync fine but certain colors/screens would appear to wiggle ever so slightly. Then sometimes the brightness would change... slightly. All this wasn't extreme and the game was playable... it was just very annoying.

OK, I see that I "might" be able to get it to work but I do not want issues in the future so I am going to pull the VP out and replace it with a "vintage" unit.
Thanks for all the guidance.
Consider this thread closed for now. I will post my results after the swap.

Haha! This is the same thing I got with my VP on Spy Hunter. Icy roads were closer to white-green and there was brightness shifts when going over water...

Ok, the vision pro and Tron did not like each other one bit.
Lost the color blue, could not center image, warped edges.
On a good note, put a new Kortek in from Betson. Worked perfectly right off the bat.
Looks so good I don't want to put the smoked plexi over it, might just go clear.

That's good to hear because people were reporting issues with Spy Hunter and Kortek as well. And lots of people were reporting issues with Kortek monitors period near the end.

Wish you were closer; I'd love to see how my Spy Hunter would react to your Kortkek. :)

PROBLEM SOLVED

I pulled out my stashed G07, the mint one I was saving for a rainy day and volia` I got game!

I tried about 5 different models and this is the only one that works properly.....

I better find some more if this is how it's going to be.

Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions.

Jeff

Not "problem solved", but rather "alternate repair option worked". The original problem in post one wasn't fixed, but given up on for a different part...
