Picked up two 1980s Irem Madonna cabinets today... gonna need a bit of cleanup, but overall they are in great shape. Anyone else have an Irem cabinet?

Think I'm gonna run one vertical, one horizontal. Next step is finding a couple decent 25in monitors.

lamest name for a cab, but it looks pretty sick!
Wish we had more candy (cab) love over here on the east side.

My friend Matsu has a couple for sale here in socal. I love candy cabs and favor the sega astrocitys and egret2's but I was pleasantly suprised how nice the Irem Madonnas were. Please post some more pix once ya get them cleaned up and outfitted with new monitors. You'll have the perfect jamma setup with 1 hori and 1 vert :)

Congrats on the score man,
Tom

Are those metal cabs, or plastic?

I have one of these, only it was quite abused. It is now Krylon'd silver and white (to the gray and off-white), sideart gone and running a Neo Geo 4 slot.

I love it, but it is going to be sold. Takes up around 12sqft and weighs over 500lbs.

I had to get rid of mine. Wife kept throwing dirty clothes in it.

The cabinets are all metal. There's a little bit of rust on one, but nothing major, and no dents or damage on either.

From what I'm reading, the Japanese 25in monitors are actually 26, so I'm wondering if I'll need to use specific monitors in these, or tweak the brackets...

Yep, they absolutely look like washing machines, pretty much from every angle but the front.

Generic enough thread title, if anyone else has a candy you'd like to show off, show us some pics!

here's a pic from video game party from a few years back. Cabs pictured are a capcom impress and sega new astrocity...I no longer have either cab though, but I like the pic because it gives an idea what they look like in use. The candy cabs are designed to be sat in front of using japanese stools.

I believe this is a Jaleco Pony, just got this one at an auction.

I like that Jaleco cab. Don't think I've ever seen one of those in person.

I know a guy trying to get a bulk deal of Astro City cabs here in VA. He actually just did the Neo 25 Candy Cab order too. If I can convince the wife I wouldn't mind picking up one or two of each. I got to play on some candy cabs a few weeks ago and liked them, figure they would be good for my nieces and my son to since they are the perfect height for them.

Jaleco Pony Mark III by the looks of it.

Ahh, cool, thanks, I wasn't sure, I haven't even had time to give it the once over yet. I'm hoping to use it for shmup PCBs. Hopefully I can find or manufacture a one player CP.

Yeah, me too. Cute lil' thing and still sports a 19" monitor. There are grey and white versions out there (I guess black ones, too). Here's a few more in better shape:

Yes, mine also says "We present you fantastic time." :D

Anyone have a source for monitors for these things? Looks like my Madonnas originally came with Nanao 26in monitors... anything comparable available in the US?

Sounds like an oddball size. If you can fit 25" ones in there you're good. Measure the bolt spacing and see if it matches up with a 25" frame.

This is what they really look like when in use. Make sure to at least get brand new japanese stools - you never know what was on a used one!
