Can you test a Z80 with an EPROM programmer?

So I just won an auction for a buttload of Z80B's to help aid in fixing a pile of Dig Dug boards. Is it possible to test the functionality of these CPUs in my GQ-4X EPROM programmer? Is there a special driver or plugin I can use? Or is this just crazy talk?

Crazy talk I'm afraid, you need a known good board with a Z80 in a socket that you can swap them into.

If you have a bunch of them to test you can slap a zif socket on a board and test them like that. Exactly how many is a "buttload"...guess it depends on the size of the butt.

Many times I find a lot of the z80b really cheap. Much cheaper than the z80's or z80a's. This can be used in just about any socket that requires a z80 processor.
