I bought a Gauntlet II in great shape, plays great, no errors on self test. While inspecting the board I came across a mod done in the past that has to do something with the Coin Counters. Do you know what mod this is? I'm wondering if I need to change out the transistors/resistors and put it back to original before putting dual roms and a switch to make it a switchable board between Gauntlet I and II.

Here is my best description of what I see on the board to go along with the photos attached of the board and schematic.

1) jumper wire is going from the middle lead of Transistor Q17 (2N6044) to PST connector pin #8 which the schematic shows is for Coin Counter 1.
2) jumper wire is going from the middle lead of Transistor Q18 (2N6044) to PST connector pin #9 which the schematic shows is for Coin Counter 2.

Can some more advanced than me please share their wisdom on what this mod is and what purpose it serves?

Thanks!!

Thanks Phil. I didn't realize that coin counters did that. Any idea if this is a common problem with either gauntlet boards or other pcbs where mods like this were done to prevent coin counter voltage spikes?
