Can you take a Dead Blow hammer to a Powder Coated CP?

Answer: Yes. I just did it to my Punchout CP. It was such a gooey mess when I sent it to the sandblaster/PC that I didn't notice the dent in the front and the massive concave bow in the middle. Those flaws were powder-coated over and now amplified by the new finish. I flipped the cp over on my carpeted basement floor and began hitting the back of the cp with short sharp blows, checking the top every 2 hits or so. After 20-30 blows, the CP is nearly perfect again, with no marring or cracking of the powder coat finish. Success. Thought I'd share in case you encounter a similar dilemma.

Why did you powder coat a PO CP? Sandblast I get, but Powder coat?

Why not? I woulda had it done in factory grey, but that woulda cost more. So I had it done in black. Perfect finish for an adhesive backed CPO to stick to.

The original wasn't powder coated and was just bare metal which is why they rust so easily. I just primed mine with the Rustoleum Grey Primer after sand blasting. I've gotten really expensive quotes around here for powder coating so I tend not to do it especially on parts that weren't powder coated in the first place. If I had gotten cheaper quotes, maybe I would of done it.

Have you done a fit test with it after powder coating?

By 'factory grey' I meant the color. I like to do things better than they did at the factory. I have 2 repro CP's from arcade shop, one is powdercoated, one is not. On the one that isn't, it is galvanized.

Don't worry I powder coat anything and everything, for me it is almost cheaper to powder coat then to paint.

I think I just need to get quotes from some other people. Best quote I've had so far is $150 for a Midway Coin Door and that was after I said that time frame didn't matter and they could throw it in existing batches.

Eek! That is freaking expensive I think the most I have ever paid was 60 bucks and that was when I had every metal piece of a Atari C/T coated along with a couple CP's. But now my buddy has his own PC setup so it only costs me driving to his shop.

Yeah, here I paid $75 for a ton of marquee brackets, piano hinges, 3 coin doors, a control panel and a few other odds n ends, probably 30-35 pieces total.

For that price, I would've probably had them powder coat everything as well. It would just make more sense to do it that way.
