Hey guys,
My son recently picked up a Legend of Zelda game for his DSi. I was telling him I used to play the original when I was a kid on the NES .
I thought you could find the ROMs for a PC10 cart somewhere but I'm having a hard time.
Anyone know who sells them?

I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
ERIC

Or you could just pop in your original gold cart into your NES and have him play it like you played it. ;)

But if you did get it running on PC-10, I'm guessing there would be no save feature? So you'd have to beat it in one sitting? That's hardcore.

I think the battery on the RR board, makes it possible. I'd have to check. Maybe I'm thinking of Kid Icarus. Hmmm

The first quest isn't that bad, it could be done. The second quest would be hardcore though, since you can't get the magical sword until Level 5, and the enemies are much stronger.

It appears that, Pete, has screen shots of TLOZ on a RR board. So, it can be done. I always wanted to put Kid Icarus on my PC-10, but never did, sadly.

Matter of fact: I remember about 5 years ago, I went to an arcade show. This guy was selling a DK Blue cab with the PC-10 conversion installed. What amazed me was that he had TLOZ in it! I was new to the scene, so I thought it was an exclusive board. Then, I learned about changing the bios for the title screen and swapping roms, as we all do in the infancy stage of arcade collecting.

Oh that thing is looooong gone. It died when I was like 14.
I have the RR with the SRAM chip which is why I knew SOMEONE could do this. I checked out PAR (Which I believe is Pete's site) and didn't see it.

Well, it seems it can be done and there is a save feature. That's pretty cool.

Man, how do you not own an NES?!? They're pretty cheap nowadays. Either on CL or eBay. Pick one up, relive your childhood and have your kid play these games as they were meant to be played. :)

Jess is right. You can get one on the cheap. If you had your old one, you could replace the 72 pin connector, like i did. Thing will run like new! My oldest is 7 1/2 and I just thought about getting the NES out for him and see his reaction.

That's why I got a PC10! :)
The only thing I'm missing out on is blowing on the friggin' carts!

Yeah, I jokingly say PC10 is just an NES on a timer, but I understand it holds nostalgic value for those that played it in arcades BITD. When you think about it, Nintendo only came out with the PC10 as a way to milk it for all it's worth and get money from kids who couldn't afford an NES.

Though, IMO, the PC10 is pretty limited. You're missing out on a lot of NES games. I'm thinking of someday making a NES plug-n-play solution in a standard Vs. upright. That way, you get the arcade game experience with the ability to play any NES game you want. But that's just a future project that may or may not happen. :)

As far as I can tell just about any game I remembered playing can be gotten in hack ROM form.

Really? Does anyone have a master list? I'm just saying that it's so much easier and convenient to play on the original NES. And that's how I remember playing these games. But I understand if you'd rather play on your PC10 since you own it already.

I may be the only one, but I think blowing into carts and getting games to run is part of the nostalgic experience. I'm a master at getting my games to work. I have a specific technique passed down from my older brothers that I will pass down to my children. :D

Jess,
Here's the one I've been using for a while. This guy will burn them too:

You might be...I remember being frustrated when having to do it. One of the reasons I got rid of it. I had 3 of them, and eventually all 3 had the same issues and it seemed to get worse with each one until we all got sick of the intermittent useability.

That is a pretty hefty list. Nice. What?!? No Mega Man 2?!? :)

Yeah, I can understand that it can be frustrating. I guess I never owned a really bad NES before where it was unbearable. Or I'm just that good at getting it to work. :D

Blowing on carts is a kids urban myth.

When I'm teaching my kids to Qtip their ears, I will teach them to swab carts to clean them.
