Can you mount Donkey Kong and DK Jr. boards in same cabinet and switch between the 2?

Just wondering. I have a Donkey kong and DK Jr. board. I'd like to mount both in the
cabinet and somehow switch between the board sets without having to change the harness.
Has any one accomplished this? Is it possible?

I know I could go to jamma and put in a multi board. Also, I know I could double dk the board
but I don't want to go that route due to the sound issues.

Has anyone made a harness between the two which will make this work?

I have splicing serial cables and using an A/B switch. Did this on a Popeye/Mario Bros.

Not a drop in replacement (they didn't use the same power supply either) but it was easy to use....

Sounds really cool....

I've read posts on this type of setup before, can you post some pictures of how you did yours?

I know this has been discussed before, but I'd like to see a setup with:

1. Donkey Kong - with D2K., DK Jr. & DK3. I know DK w/D2K already is combined, but switch between them all would be sweet!
2. Mario Bros. - w/Popeye. Is it possible to do Vs boards too?
3. Or what about a multi Vs. setup (if not already done)?

I am thinking about the same thing, however what is the sound issue you made reference to?

The Double Donkey Kong uses a DK Jr board that's been hacked to run both DK and DK Jr. The analog hardware that generates the running/jumping, etc sound on DK isn't present on DK Jr, so it uses DK Jr sounds for those while playing DK.

splicing method

Interesting splicing method. Could you post pics on how it's done? Curious to how this works.
Does someone make an adapter ready for DK and DK Jr. switching between boards?

Thanks for the info, Crazy Kong.

Baraka, sorry for butting in to your thread. It would still be nice to have an accurate playing multi DK game (DK, Jr, DK2). Hook it up in a really nice red Nintendo cab and let it rip!

More!

Ok.. So is there any easy way to make DK and Dk Jr. boardsets work and switch between the two? Somehow there has to be a way.

This is how I put 6 boards in my DK.:)
There is a 6 in 1 switcher under the coin box shelf and a 60-1 next to the monitor.
My DK already had a switching power supply and jamma harness when I bought it.

Someone has all the DK games and mario in a Nintendo cab. They did this I believe by using what jimkirk did.

mikes arcade sells NINTENDO to JAMMA adapters, get one for each board, and a 6-in-1 JAMMA switcher, hooked them all up and switch between the games that way.

I did end up using a 2-1 jamma switcher, an arcadeshop power supply with nintendo adapter and custom cables. I wired the cab with a new harness that is essentially jamma to plug on the switcher and mad 2 jamma to nintendo cables with edge connectors. It works great and I have all the original wiring that can be put back to stock which I may do only because I don't play Junior much. - Barry

I made a 5 way switcher once.

That cab still has a lot of games in it, but I prefer to set one up for a few months now, because the RGB settings and Picture size is different for each game, also crazy kong was upside down on the monitor.

I was also getting color loss due to the distances of cables

I now just move a Jamma extension harness to the game I want, and adjust the screen and leave it for a while.

Game of the moment: DK2

I hope you can overcome these issues in yours, and I wish you all the best
