The reason I ask is because the picture is AWESOME on this thing, but after fixing my jumping issue with some new caps, I can't help but notice I still have an issue with the corners not focusing/converging properly. The middle of the screen is nice and sharp. It's perfect. But the edges you can tell aren't as crisp. They start to get a little more smudgy. Doing a search here showed that this might be a flyback issue. However, I will admit I didn't have caps for every one to replace, so there's always that...

EDIT: nevermind. looks like these are exactly what I need:

And if you wipe away all the filth around the focus/screen pot on the fly, you will probably see cracks in the case. The crack around the focus pot will be part of the fuzzy issue you are having.

Yeah, you can see some in the first pic...

Watch out for those dirty cracks as they will arc to the frame. if your trying to adjust the focus or brightness and you touch the frame you'll see the secret star level. ask me how i know how to get there :D

Well let me ask you all this, do you think this would fix my convergence issues around the border I'm having, or is that a separate issue? I will replace the flyback then go from there, I suppose? Or are they flat out unrelated. I could have sworn I read focus around the edges was a flyback going bad.... can't find that thread now.

If you have a convergence issue, replacing the flyback will not fix it. Are you sure it is a convergence problem though? You could aways post a pic and see what others here think.

I would definetly replace that flyback though. It is your standard K7000 flyback, and yours is a white knob original.... replace it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's convergence, as the blue and red really bleed away form one another on the edges. In the cross hatch test, it's more obvious than playing a game. However, it gives the appearance of out of focus on the edges in the game.

dude thats a k7000 chassis!! with white knob fly!!

REPLACE-THE-FLY-NOW!!

that isnt going to fix your convergence, but youll thank me when your monitor doesent die in a week.

id sell you a flyback but i think im out. ill have to dig..

But, not to be too brash, and to make sure I know my problem, here's pics

The first one is to show how nice and crisp the picture is in the middle 85% of the screen. Very nice picture, I'd say.

The second is to show how on the corners, it gets out of focus. Notice Ryu's sprite in the upper left is the exact same as the sprite normally used. Compare the two, and you will see the sharpness of the middle one, but the fuzziness of the one on the outside. Direct comparison.

Third shows the blue bleeding out on the bottom left of the screen.

Fourth shows the convergence test proving that case, as the red clearly is going somewhere else... where the hell is he going?

EDIT: the faint lines you see are with the camera only. They aren't there with the human eye.

Looks like you need some yoke convergence magnetic strips. Have fun finding them...

OMG man thats way off. I thought this was a typical case of steve bieng steve( lol) but yeah man thats way out of whack. That would even drive me nuts and im not too picky about games as long as they frickin work.

I tried contacting greg, hadn't heard back from him. As for TV repair shops, I'll be damned if I can name one in town. :(
