Can we say a little over priced?

BTw- i just searched epay and the only guns similar available are the generic versions and all are priced at $105 BIN and look blown out...
i also searched completed auctions and the only one that was listed this past month did not work and had the wires missing.

so, once again...supply and demand...
u do realize these guns are 25+ years old now and no one makes them...

dont hate on a seller...

i dunno. its simple supply and demand. have you seen what some guns sell for on happ. carnevil guns for over $300. same with sammy scope guns...damn, the price of a silent scope gun costs as much as you can buy the whole game for.
over the past couple years, ive seen working nintendo guns actually sell for $150- $250- range quite often on epay. ive even seen untested guns sell in the $75 range.

here on klov, its a small group compared to the rest of the world. most people here want deals or to buy cheap. but of course if we r the ones selling we want more :)
ebay is the real world and larger market. not every gamer hangs out on newsgroups.

just because one was posted here and not taken , and then listed on epay and fetched 80ish bucks, does not mean that is "the" price they are worth.
you should know that when you see an asteroids sell for $200 fully working one day on epay, then a week later another one sells for $800...same condition.
supply and demand....
my 2 cents anyway...prolly not worth anything...

I understand supply and demand however he still overpaid, but if he really wanted it who are we to say anything. Say what you will, but there is a general range for what these are "worth" to the knowledgable collector/hobbyist.

Usually when someone pays out of the normal price range for anything they really need/want it and don't care what it costs or they are not knowledgable enough to know they are overpaying.

Economics 101

A decrease in the quantity supplied, raises the market equilibrium price. A long run market price of say $75 means squat unless you are willing to wait. Still $25 is a basement ball offer. I agree I overpaid in the long run, but I wanted a decent gun and reasonably soon since I have games waiting to be played. The other guns on ebay looked beat and the two nice looking ones I just saw sell here went fast at $100 and $150 granted they had some chips with them. If slinky had one of his nice cleaned up guns on here for $70 I would've bought it immediately. Heck I still probably would buy it, because I want to set up another VS game. Of course now that I have a nice working gun, I won't be so jumpy when the next one comes around. This is the law of diminishing returns, since we are talking economics. At the time, with my limited knowledge of historical prices and recent sales or listing information along with the supply I concluded the right price was around $110. I offered about that when the counter came back I bumped to $130, just to get it done. This would've been the third gun sold out from under my nose and I'm itching to play some Hogan's Alley. Moral of the story is Slinky needs to get some stock, because you never know when the next noob will roll around. :)

Yea, I still have some parts and will try to put one or two guns together. I never reconditioned the guns with intentions of making a large profit, just supplying a good product where there had been little available, and what was out there was way overpriced. I'll post 'em if I get some working. If anybody has any non-working guns for parts that they want to sell it would help.

Well damnit Slinky! Get on it would ya. I was looking for a gun and one came up on here for $100 with Hogans Alley chips and sold withing a couple hours, but I had just joined the sight and saw that it had already sold. Then I posted on that sale thread that if anyone else has one I wanted to buy it. The same guy contacts me about another one he was selling for $150 that came with HA chips and Duck Hunt. By the time I see the post the gun is sold. It lasted a whole hour this time. I search the site but no more nice guns only crummy ones. So I look on Ebay and only see a guns that look well used and dirty for a normal price of $150 and a sale price of $105. I saw the gun in question here come up for $190, which I did think was crazy. My first offer was $113 and he came back with $150 and how rare the gun is. I told him I didn't care about rarity, I just wanted a nice gun and told him $130 was my final offer. I saw there were 3 other people making offers. Little did I know one was a kick in the balls $25 offer. I admit I paid too much, but I wanted to play some games I bought and the guns on here kept getting sold before I could make the deal so I was ready to pay a little premium. $25 though is an insulting offer, because the gun is nice. So chalk it up to a noob candy shopping for his VS cabinet although given what I experienced it seemed like I overpaid a little, but I was okay with that before I saw this post. :)

Sorry about that $25 offer. I didn't mean to throw you off. It was a joke offer for a joke asking price. I have said on this site before the buyer sets the price on a item not the seller, so you can pay whatever makes you happy. However, there is a fine line between being happy and paying too much. In this case, I think you stepped on both sides of the line, so I would call it a wash.:) Now, in the future, you will know what's what, so it was a learning experience.
Cheers,
Greg

Definitely learned!

I had no idea of your offer until I read the post here. When I was making my offer I could tell that 3 other people were making offers, but had no clue how LOW they were. :) It was a ridiculous starting price even a noob like me knew that and was able to shave $60 from it. Guess it wasn't enough. Either way, I'll be playing soon so I'm good. By the way if there is something you really want to have, the market sets the price, not the buyer. It's a collaborative effort. :)

Better late than never!

I'm sure the other guy wanted to make a profit and you should too unless you just enjoy refurbing light guns. :) The gun I bought was not overpriced if there was no valid and available competition and at the time I bought it there wasn't.
