Can we please have a dedicated Mame, multi and other craptacular games forum ?

I thought this was supposed to be about classic arcade games, and not what kind of craptacular thing we can turn a classic into. I for one would love to see a forum dedicated to all that garbage so we don't have to sort through it here and stink up the rest of place.

Hi there forum member ArcRevival!

I tend to agree with your sentiments!

I'm not totally against multis, but I do believe that they need their own forum, LULZ SMOC!

Best Wishes

I'm all for this idea...as long as admins regularly move threads which deal with MAME cabinets to the appropriate new forum as a *gentle* reminder that they don't belong elsewhere. ;)

Of the 25 posts on the main page, 1 has MAME in the title. And it's this thread.

The forum is titled GENERAL ARCADE AND VIDEOGAME DISCUSSIONS. If you go by the title, even Xbox, PS3, and other consoles are welcome to be discussed here. Sorry Dave... this specific forum was never called "CLASSIC ARCADE MACHINE DISCUSSION"....

EDIT: BTW - I'd have no problem with a dedicated MAME forum...as long as it wasn't one of those shitty SUB-FORUMS that never get used.

This board will always skew toward classic. So no worries really. When a occasional MAME comes up. Its Our job to educate them. :)

Besides.. I think initially a lot of us thought a multi would be a good idea. Then you get more into the hobby and wanting originals just comes naturally.

Take a chill pill dear buddy. Many collectors here have been introduced to the hobby through MAME. Switching to dedicated machines is a natural process as we learn more.

I see no need for yet another forum branch.

I thought BYOAC was for that?

Phetishboy - what does SMOC mean? I have seen you post it several times now.

whats that? you want to see my mame rig?

cool.

this is right when i got it and threw on a temporary CP. since then i've stuck a bigger monitor in it, a black light for the marquee, and some cosmetic work. its a classic atari cab that was already gutted when i got it.

I find the visceral hatred of MAME by some in this forum to be absolutely hilarious.

There have been more "grail" and "King of Kong" threads as of late than MAME, so far as I can tell.

Personally, I don't have a strong opinion either way. People will continue to post things inappropriately, and I think breaking down too many ways will only fragment the usefulness of the site.

Fixed your post...

Let's say this was a Star Wars figure forum. Would it seem odd if some people got pissed off when others posted pictures of classic figures with their heads torn off, and BRATZ heads glued on in their place? :D

MAME is an emulator for ROMs. People with limited skills (and limited taste) will always cobble together horrific projects.

But, I don't think the two should be confused as one and the same.

I don't know about another forum, but I don't at all care for MAME.

I think it's fairly obvious this forum is not about console games just like it should be fairly obvious it's not about mame, multi vector crap and all the other abominations people wanna thinly disguise as classic arcade games.

Can we include King of Kong posts and Craigs List listings?

The MAME stuff doesn't really bother me that much, I have one and probably still will
many years from now as there are some machines that I will likely never own but with
MAME I can still sort of play them. A separate forum is a good idea I think.

ArcRevival has a history of complaining every time people on KLOV talk about things that don't 100% line up with his own personal vision for the site. See: complaining about posting questions in the restoration forum.

Wah wah wah wah....Why dont we branch out the forums by game? We need a Robotron forum, Donkey Kong Forum, Defender Forum, Pac Man Forum and a Golden Tee 2005 forum while we're at it. I hate having to browse through all the Neo Geo threads trying to find a thread about Pole Position.
